Cross-Campus Collaboration in Web Courses: A Case Study of the Course Learning Science and Technology

Abstract:A state-of-the-art topic as it is, the effectiveness of online education is far from optimistic. This article focuses on the case of the course Learning Science and Technology-College Students' Learning Capabilities in the Information Era and studies a cross-campus collaboration based on the platform Blackboard. The main collaborative activities include: collaboration in course design and resources preparation among teachers from different institutions, activities exchanging online reading on certain chapters in the set textbooks, and collaboration in same or similar research topics. Years of practice and research show that, in cross-campus collaboration in web courses, much attention should be paid to the establishment of online learning environment and learning resources, and a cross-campus web-based tutoring system is to be set up in order to explore the potentiality of team teaching. The authors posit that assistance should be given to both teachers and learners helping them adjust to the changes and challenges in dealing with new roles, learning philosophy, pedagogy, technological environment, etc.
