Abstract:In this paper we find a positive weak solution for a semipositone $p(\cdot )$- Laplacian problem. More precisely, we find a solution for the problem \[ \left\{ \begin{array}{cc} -\Delta _{p(\cdot )}u=f(u)-\lambda & \text{in }\Omega \\ u>0 & \text{in }\Omega \\ u=0 & \text{on }\partial \Omega \end{array}% \right. , \] where $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^{N}$, $N\geq 2$ is a smooth bounded domain, $f$ is a contiuous function with subcritical growth, $\lambda >0$ and $\Delta _{p(\cdot )}u=\text{div}(\left\vert \nabla u\right\vert ^{p(\cdot )-2}\nabla u)$. Also, we assume an Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type of condition and using the Mountain Pass arguments, comparision principles and regularity principles we prove the existence of positive weak solution for $\lambda $ small enough.

Abstract:This paper deals with the following variational problem with variable exponents{−div((1+|∇u|p(x)1+|∇u|2p(x))|∇u|p(x)−2∇u)=f(x,u),inΩ,u=0,on∂Ω, where Ω⊆RN (N≥2) be a bounded domain with the smooth boundary ∂Ω, p:Ω‾→R is a Lipschitz continuous function with 1<p−:=essinfx∈Ω⁡p(x)≤p(x)≤p+:=esssupx∈Ω⁡p(x)<N and f∈C(Ω×R,R) is superlinear but does not satisfy the usual Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz type condition. Under three different superlinear conditions on f at infinity, we prove that the above equation has at least a nontrivial solution. Moreover, the existence of infinite many solutions is proved for odd nonlinearity. Especially, some new tricks are introduced to show the boundedness of Cerami sequences.

Abstract:This paper studies the existence of positive solutions of the Dirichlet problem for the nonlinear equation involving p-Laplacian operator: -△pu = λf(u) on a bounded smooth domain Ω in Rn. The authors extend part of the Crandall-Rabinowitz bifurcation theory to this problem. Typical examples are checked in detail and multiplicity of the solutions are illustrated. Then the stability for the associated parabolic equation is considered and a Fujita-type result is presented.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the following multipoint boundary value problem with one-dimensional ϕ-Laplacian (ϕ(x′(t)))′+q(t)f(t,x(t),x′(t))=0,t∈(0,1),x(0)=∑i=1n−2αix(ξi),ϕ(x′(1))=∑i=1n−2βiϕ(x′(ξi)), where ϕ(⋅) is an odd and increasing homeomorphism, ξi∈(0,1) with 0<ξ1<ξ2<⋯<ξn−2<1, αi and βi are nonnegative constants and f(t,x(t),x′(t)) is continuous and allowed to change sign. By fixed point theorems, we obtain new results on the existence of at least three positive solutions of this boundary value problem, which includes and improves some related results in the relevant literature.

Abstract:This paper studies the existence of positive solutions of the nonlinear p-Laplacian equation −Δpu=f(x,u) in Rn. Existence of infinitely many positive solutions is established via super–sub-solution methods. Decaying conditions on f(x,u) at |x|=∞ are imposed. Necessity of the conditions and nonexistence of positive solutions are illustrated through decay–growth estimates of solutions at infinity. Special situation and examples are checked in detail.
