Abstract:The effects of different light intensity conditions(100% light CK,light shading A,moderate shading B,severe shading C) on the growth and physiological characteristics of Acanthopanax trifoliatus(L.) Merr, were investigated to inquire its adaptation mechanism to shade environment. The results indicated that the number of new branch of CK was higher than those of other shading treatments. The branches length and leaf growth condition under the 100% light were the poorest, and were significantly lower than those of other shadings(p<0.05).The trifoliatus grew well at B,and the biomass was relatively high. With the weakening of light intensity, the chlorophyll content of leaves of Acanthopanax trifoliatus increased;the proline content,MDA content and the soluble sugar content decreased;the soluble protein content increased firstly and then decreased, the minimum value was in C.The results suggested that the trifoliatus had a wide range of light adaptability, but neither strong nor weak light was conducive for its growth, and 20% of light intensity was the best light environment for seedlings on the two growth seasons.
