Preliminary Study on Properties of a Novel PLA-PVP Amphiphilic Copolymer

Abstract:The PLA-PVP amphiphilic copolymers with different composition were firstly prepared bycopolymerization of the end double bond functionalized PLA macromonomer(MC) and NVP( themolar ratio of MC/NVP was 10:90 and 20:80). Then the hydrophilicity and blood compatibility of theamphiphilic copolymers were studied by surfacial contact angle, hemolysis ratio and blood clottingtime measurements, and compared to those of PLA. Results showed that the hydrophilicity andblood compatibility of the amphiphilic copolymers were superior to those of PLA, and improved withthe feed molar fraction of NVP increased.
