Cyanoacrylate versus ligation in the treatment of gastroesophageal varices: One Meta-analysis

Abstract:Objectives The classic therapeutic method of gastroesophageal varices is ligation. Cyanoacrylate injection is rising up to be a better way to cure these very disease in a few past years. This article is try to find the advantage of cyanoacrylate injection. Methods Data statistics, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, Meta analysis, and bias analysis were used to evaluate acquired articles. Results No statistical significance was found on hemostatic rate, eradication rate and mortality between the two group. The rebleeding rate of ligation group was higher than cyanoacrylate injected group, and complications in the cyanoacrylate injected group was fewer than ligation group in esophageal varices group. Conclusions Cyanoacrylate injected method is generally better than ligation because of lower rebleeding rate. In the case of managing patients with higher rebleeding tendency, Cyanoacrylate may be a better way.
