Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of motivational interviewing(MI) intervention on the influential factors of woman sexually transmitted infections(STIs) in family. Methods Three core motivational interviewing skills(asking, informing, and listening) of MI were applied to change rural women and their spouse′s reproductive health behaviors in family unit. Results The incidence rates of women and their spouse′s behaviors related with STIs were significantly decreased after MI intervention,as compared with before MI intervention(P0.05).But male behavior feedback rate was lower than female significantly(P0.01),with a poor compliance. Conclusion It is an effective measure to improve the behaviors related with STIs to apply MI skills intervention taking community family as the basic unit for rural couples. The spouse′s participation and responsibility should been considered adequately for prevention and control of women′s STIs.
