Abstract:A fixed point theorem is used to study a singular second order three-point boundary value problem. The problem is more general. Combining the method of constructing Green functions with operators defined piecewise, the existence result of positive solutions to a singular second order three-point boundary value problem is established. The nonlinearity can be allowed to change sign.

Abstract:We discuss a class of p-Laplacian-type fractional four-point boundary-value problems with a parameter. We use the Green's function, the Schauder fixed-point theorem and the Guo-Krasnoselskii fixed-point theorem on cones. Some examples are presented to show the validity of the conditions of our main theorem.

Abstract:This paper provides conditions for the existence of a solution to the second-order nonlinear boundary value problem on the half-line of the form Δa(n)Δx(n)=f(n+1,x(n+1),Δx(n+1)),n∈N∪{0}, with αx(0)+βa(0)Δx(0)=0,x(∞)=d, where d,α,β∈R, α2+β2>0. To achieve our goal, we use Schauder's fixed-point theorem and the perturbation technique for a Fredholm operator of index 0. Moreover, we construct the necessary condition for the existence of a solution to the considered problem.

Abstract:This paper deals with a boundary value problem of a fractional differential equation with the nonlinear term dependent on a fractional derivative of lower order on the semi-infinite interval. An appropriate compactness criterion is established, such that we can use Schauder's fixed point theorem on an unbounded domain to obtain the existence result for solutions. Moreover, a suitable choice of a Banach space allows the solutions to be unbounded. An example illustrating our main result is also given.

Abstract:Studied here is an initial-boundary-value problem for the “good” Boussinesq equation on the half line. It is shown that this initial-boundary-value problem, when the initial-boundary-data satisfy certain compatible conditions, is well-posed in the L2-based Sobolev space Hs(R+) for s>12.
