Abstract:Waterlogging stress is one of the most common stress factors to which plants in the riparian zone and wetlands are subject.Plants will produce a series of complex physiological and metabolic changes to adapt to flooding environment. These changes are essential to whether plants can adapt to waterlogging stress and then develop the normal physiological function and growth. In this paper,we systematically studied and reviewed the physiological and metabolic changes of plants under waterlogging stress, including the changes in photosynthetic physiology such as gas exchange, photosynthetic pigment and chlorophyll fluorescence, and in malondialdehyde like antioxidant enzyme system and root carbohydrate. Finally,we analyzed the existing problem in current studies and prospected the future research direction.
