Abstract:The effects of high cholesterol seafood on lipids metabolism in mice was studied by adding 10% different sea foods protein to normal and high cholesterol diet. The concentrations of serum total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides(TG),high-density lipoprotein(HDL-c),as well as hepatic TC,TG,phospholipids were measured. The body weight gain, liver weight, kidney weight, and the abdominal white adipose tissue weight were also detected in order to observe the effects of different dietary sea foods on the growth of mouse. The fecal total lipid and neutral steroids of high cholesterol fed mouse were extracted and measured to investigate the lipid absorption. The result showed that the high cholesterol sea foods decreased serum total lipid levels and atherosclerosis index in both normal and hypercholesterolemia mice significantly(P<0.05).The effects of high cholesterol sea foods on the hepatic and fecal lipid concentrations depended on its species. These results suggested that the high cholesterol sea foods did not increase the risk of atherosclerosis induced by hypercholesterolemia.
