Abstract:Viikki is a new urban community in Helsinki,Finland.It is world-famous because of its ecological neighborhood concept and its large-scale wood residential apartments and cluster of wood villas.The paper makes a deep analysis on the layout and the modern humanities of wood buildings by representing the wood residence,public buildings,landscape and facilities etc.in the community.At the same time,it reveals the regulated effects of the natural ambience which is the typical characteristic of wood buildings and achieved in a natural way.Finally,thearticleconcludesthedesignenlightenmentwhichisbasedonthechainof"humansettlements–humansentiment–humanity– humanism" from modern wood buildings in Finland.

Abstract:This paper introduces the experiments,design and engineering application of modern bamboo single family house.The features of foundation,wall,floor,and roof are discussed in detail.The design and construction of the bamboo house is based on the properties of laminated bamboo,including high strength-light-weight and stiffness-weight ratios,prefabrication,better durability etc.Crucial technics including fire proof,moisture prevention,and anti-seismic design etc were solved.The research and construction of bamboo single family houses validate that such a new type of environmental friendly construction form is suitable for applications in commercial buildings and residential houses.

Abstract:There are lots of correlations between cultural ecology and regional architecture characteristics in concept. Architecture is a specific cultural element of the overall regional culture system. The essential meaning of the cultural ecology and regional characteristics is the same. In order to acquire better understanding and reference from the success factors of regional creation, this paper analyzes the characteristics and regulations of wooden buildings in northern Europe through the theory of the relationship between the whole and the elements of cultural ecology. As the specific elements of regional overall cultural carrier, simple, natural and highly artistic qualities of Nordic timber buildings are interactions of the regional culture. Forming excellent architectural landscape through the architectural creation experience, highlighting the main features and maintaining high standard can promot the development of the overall regional culture characteristics.

Abstract:Based on the practice of the landscape sketch bamboo buildings of Meixi Lake in Changsha, this thesis, from the perspective of material construction, aims to perceive the region and bamboo structure, to concern the bamboo frame form and space construction, to try to integrate bamboo structure with other materials and to explore the formation of bamboo-framed building and the related regional expression. Excavating bamboo value, improving bamboo performance and developing bamboo structural building can satisfy requirements as the main part of construction and expression in architecture and promote the using level of GluBam. Technological innovation such as suitable construction skills and reasonable structural system can promote the effective utilizing bamboo and development of modern bamboo structure. It is a alternative green building system for sustainable development.

Abstract:This article describes the regional characteristics of typical Chinese traditional dwelling, dissect its generated origin is the result of both the natural and social environment where located. With the acceleration of urbanization process in China, the conflict of traditional dwelling with modern urban construction is more and more obvious, traditional dwellings are facing an unprecedented dilemma, inherited or abandoned worth pondering. Abstract:In the interiors of ancient Huizhou buildings in China, a profusion of wood carvings are employed for decoration, with traditional research interpreting their function from decorative and aesthetic perspectives. However, this research suggests that the role of Huizhou wood carvings in interior spaces surpasses mere decoration; they enhance the expression and experience of spatial concepts through narrative imagery. By analyzing the mechanism and intrinsic logic behind the spatial concepts formed in Huizhou residential buildings, this study investigates how wood-carving imagery contributes to shaping spatial concepts through narrative techniques, as well as their creativity and expressiveness in architectural design. Utilizing literature reviews, field surveys for case selection, and case analysis methods combined with observation, interviews, and measurements, this research ultimately employs image analysis to interpret the narrative structures and styles of wood-carving imagery in detail. This study reveals that (1) the spatial concepts of Huizhou residential buildings are influenced by traditional thought, social culture, and other factors, leading to an interweaving of material, cultural, and social spaces that results in a spatial concept characterized by harmony between heaven and humanity, clear hierarchy, and orderliness; (2) Huizhou wood-carvings, through their narrative images, actively engage in the production of spatial concepts, employing thematic juxtaposition narrative modes and utilizing singular-scene narration, composite-scene narration, and cyclical narration to articulate these concepts. These findings significantly deepen our comprehension of the relationship between the spatial concepts of Huizhou's traditional residential architecture and social culture. By integrating cultural elements with spatial production theory, this research addresses the limitations of existing studies and augments their theoretical interpretative power. Additionally, clarifying the connection between the cultural elements of wood-carving imagery and the formation of spatial concepts offers a novel perspective on the study of Huizhou wood carvings, moving beyond their longstanding categorization as purely decorative elements.
