Abstract:Objective:To explore the differences between gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST) and ovarian tumor in postmenopausal women. Methods:Analysing three cases of GIST who were diagnosed as ovarian tumor before the operation retrospectively. Results:The whole three cases were postmenopausal women with or without tumor marker slightly rise. Two of them had acute abdomen symptoms and the tumor had plentiful blood flow in the color Doppler ultrasound. Each of them had been diagnosed as ovarian tumor before the operation and was found to be a gastrointestinal stromal tumor during the operation. The hemorrhage during the operation was in a big amount in those patients who had acute abdomen symptoms. Two of three patients had abdominal computerize tomography scan. One hinted that the tumor was originated from the small intestine. Conclusion:When a big mass occurred in the pelvic of the postmenopausal women,it may be a GIST from the intestinal not a tumor from the ovary. When it was accompanied with acute abdomen symptoms,it may cause a great deal of blood loss during the operation. An abdominal computerize tomography scan may be helpful for the diagnosis before the operation.
