Abstract:With the extensive application of networks, access network is receiving wide attention as it connects user terminals and the core network. The QoS issue in the process of data transmission is particularly concerned by both terminal users and network administrators. WiMax, a new popular access technology, has defined perfect QoS mechanism at the MAC layer. However, bandwidth allocation scheduling algorithm, the core issue in QoS mechanisms, has not been clearly described or defined in the protocol. This paper analyzes and compares some typical existing algorithms, and meanwhile, summarises some problems that should be considered when designing the algorithm. What's more, we adopt the bandwidth scheduling methods that are suitable for WiMax protocol in existing algorithm, and combine it with the definition of QoS in WiMax protocol. We propose a centralized bandwidth allocation scheduling algorithm in the PMP mode for WiMax protocol.
