N‐pentane and N‐hexane As Coguests in Structure‐H Hydrates in Mixtures of 2,2‐dimethylbutane and Methane

Abstract:Room for two little ones? n-Pentane and n-hexane, previously regarded as non-hydrate forming, are found to form structure-H (sH) hydrates in mixtures with 2,2-dimethylbutane. Even though they are thought to be too large to fit into the largest cage of the sH hydrate, powder X-ray diffraction and NMR measurements show that they form gas hydrates in mixtures with other sH-hydrate formers.
