Abstract:Postoperative cognitive dysfunction(POCD) is one of the serious long-term postoperative complications,mostly occur in the elderly patients. POCD often brings the patients to long-term and short-term effects, such as increased risk of complications and mortality, delayed rehabilitation, and even affects the quality of life of patients after discharge.The etiology and pathogenesis of POCD is still unknown, a number of studies have shown that the pathogenesis of POCD may be the result of multiple factors, and the central and systemic inflammation triggered by surgical trauma may play an important role in POCD developing and progression. This review discussed inflammatory response in the pathogenesis of postoperative cognitive dysfunction.
