The Effects of 1.23% Fluoride Foam on the Prevention of Enamel Demineralization During Orthodontic Treatment

Abstract:The study was designed as a random,double-blind,placebo-controlled clinical trial.100 subjects were randomly assigned to a test group and placebo control group.1.23% fluoride foam and placebo foam without fluoride were topically used in the test and control groups respectively once every 3 months during the orthodontic treatment.The effects were observed by laser fluorescence DIAGNOdent pen.After treatment,the DIAGNOdent pen readings of test(n=45) and control(n=42) groups increased by 3.79% and 76.52% respectively(P0.01).1.23% fluoride foam may prevent enamel demineralization during orthodontic treatment.
