Abstract:Three species of the Family Trichodoridae were identified and described from China. Three populations of Trichodorus nanjingensis Liu & Cheng, 1990, were collected from the rhizosphere of bamboo (Bambusa glaucescens var. ri-viereorum) and Chinese mulberry (Morus cathayana) growing at Hangzhou, and from apple at Beijing, respectively, of which bamboo and Chinese mulberry are new hosts for this species. Two populations of T. pakistanensis Siddiqi, 1962, were recovered from the rhizosphere of Metasequoia g glyptostroboides and bamboo growing at Hangzhou, and these represent new hosts for the species. Seven populations of Paratrichodorus porosus (Allen, 1957) Siddiqi, 1974, were collected from Fuyang, Zhejiang, with five associated with Camellia japonica, and the other two from Ligustrum lucidum, and from oriental cherry (Prunus serrula) that are new hosts for the species. These three trichodorid species are new records for Zhejiang province, China. Virus bait-testing of the species did not reveal any association with Tobravirus.

Abstract:Based on field surveys and a review of literature and herbarium specimens, three new Begonia in section Platycentrum from South China are confirmed and reported with morphological descriptions and illustrations, namely Begonia liangguangensis D.K.Tian & J.Y.Zhou, B. shaoqingii D.K.Tian & J.Y.Zhou, and B. qinzhouensis D.K.Tian & J.Y.Zhou. These three new species are morphologically compared with their allied species. Their conservation statuses are provisionally assessed as Endangered, Endangered, and Critically Endangered, respectively, according to Guidelines for Using IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria.

Abstract:Begonia is a mega-genus with about 2500 species by most estimates, with China having over 210 accepted species. After field surveys, literature review and examination of herbarium specimens, some new taxa, new records, synonyms and the hybrid-origin of some taxa have been confirmed. Here, we report that Begonia dioica Buch.-Ham. ex D.Don and B. flagellaris Hara, both from Xizang (Tibet) are new to China; Begonia lipingensis Hance, B. muliensis T.T.Yu and B. sizemoreae Kiew are synonyms of B. circumlobata Hance, B. taliensis Gagnepain and B. longiciliata C.Y.Wu, respectively; and Begonia × lancangensis S.H.Huang and B. × malipoensis S.H.Huang & Y.M.Shui are natural hybrids.

Abstract:Geographic novelties of three species of Lamiaceae are reported in this paper. Scutellaria repens Buch.Ham. ex D.Don, previously only known from India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan, is documented from Tibet, China for the first time. Lamium purpureum L., previously known as widely distributed in Eurasia (but not Uzbekistan) and North Africa, and Dracocephalum baldshuanicum (Gontsch.) A.L.Budantzev, previously only known from Afghanistan, Iran, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, are newly reported from Uzbekistan. Diagnostic characters, detailed illustrations, and updated distributions of the three species are provided. In addition, lectotypes for Dracocephalum baldshuanicum are designated. Signalements nouveaux de Lamiaceae de Chine et d'Ouzbkistan. De nouveaux signalements gographiques sont indiqus pour trois espces de Lamiaceae dans cet article. Scutellaria repens Buch.-Ham. ex D.Don, prcdemment connue uniquement de l'Inde, du Myanmar, du Npal et du Pakistan, est documente pour la premire fois au Tibet, en Chine. Lamium purpureum L., rput largement prsent en Eurasie (mais pas en Ouzbkistan) et en Afrique du Nord, et Dracocephalum baldshuanicum (Gontsch.) A.L.Budantzev, rapports jusqu'alors uniquement d'Afghanistan, d'Iran, du Kirgizstan, du Tadjikistan et du Turkmnistan, sont nouvellement signals en Ouzbkistan. Abstract:According to the Species Catalogue of China, Tibet, China, has more than 1,000 species of bryophytes, showing its remarkably high biodiversity. Amongst them, the Polytrichaceae is one of the largest family, with six genera and 25 species, one subspecies and two varieties reported previously.Based on a field survey and specimen identification, the following species have been newly recorded in the bryoflora of Tibet, namely Oligotrichum obtusatum Broth., Pogonatum contortum (Menzies ex Brid.) Abstract:During our studying of the fauna of Tibet, China, many specimens of the subfamily Tachininae ( Diptera , Tachinidae ) were collected and examined. Three species are described here as new to science, Leskia latisurstyla sp. nov. , Trichoformosomyia cuonaensis sp. nov. , and Tachina jilongensis sp. nov. , and two species, Nemoraea javana (Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1894) and N. echinata Mesnil, 1953, are newly recorded from Tibet. In addition to their descriptions, illustrations, and diagnoses, three identification keys are provided. The specimens in this study are kept in the Insect Collection of Shenyang Normal University, China ( SYNU ).

Abstract:Elsholtzia zhongyangii (Lamiaceae), a new species from Sichuan Province, China, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically similar to E. feddei f. feddei, but it can be easily distinguished from E. feddei f. feddei by smaller corolla (3.2–3.5 mm vs. 4.5–5.3 mm), bract indumentum (glabrous, except margin ciliate vs. villous, especially on veins abaxially, glabrous adaxially) and bract stalked (ca. 1.2 mm vs. sessile). Phylogenetic analyses, based on two nuclear ribosomal (ETS, ITS) and five plastid (rbcL, matK, trnL-F, ycf1, ycf1-rps15) regions, confirmed that the new species formed a monophyletic clade with robust support. The new species is currently known from western Sichuan.

Abstract:This paper describes and illustrates a new species of Primulaceae, Primula wolongensissp. nov. from Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province, China. It is very rare and currently only known from its type locality. The new species belongs to subsection Chartacea of the section Petiolares on account of lacking bud scales at flowering, being efarinose and having distinct petiolate leaves with more or less rounded lamina. The new species can be differentiated from other members of the subsection by leaf blade margin dentate, and leaf veins which are not raised, scape shorter than or equal to pedicels, yellow flowers and location of stamens of the corolla tube at thrum flower. Molecular phylogenetic analysis based on nuclear ribosome internal transcribed spacer (nrITS) demonstrated that P. wolongensis was sister to subgen. Auriculastrum. Primula wolongensis is currently known from a single location in Wolong Town, and its conservation status is assessed as Data Deficient (DD).

Abstract:Species of the genus Thelephora (Thelephorales, Thelephoraceae) are ectomycorrhizal symbionts of coniferous and broad-leaved plants, and some of them are well-known edible mushrooms, making it an exceptionally important group ecologically and economically. However, the diversity of the species from China has not been fully elucidated. In this study, we conducted a phylogenetic analysis based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions, using Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian analyses, along with morphological observations of this genus. Four new species from China are proposed, viz., T. dactyliophora, T. lacunosa, T. petaloides, and T. pinnatifida. In addition, T. sikkimensis originally described from India is reported for the first time from China. Thelephora dactyliophora, T. pinnatifida, and T. sikkimensis are distributed in subtropical forests and mainly associated with plants of the families Fagaceae and Pinaceae. Thelephora lacunosa and T. petaloides are distributed in tropical to subtropical forests. Thelephora lacunosa is mainly associated with plants of the families Fagaceae and Pinaceae, while T. petaloides is mainly associated with plants of the family Fagaceae. Line drawings of microstructures, color pictures of fresh basidiomes, and detailed descriptions of these five species are provided.

Abstract:Trichoderma spp. are diverse fungi with wide distribution. In this study, we report on three new species of Trichoderma, namely T. nigricans, T. densissimum and T. paradensissimum, collected from soils in China. Their phylogenetic position of these novel species was determined by analyzing the concatenated sequenc-es of the second largest nuclear RNA polymerase subunit encoding gene (rpb2) and the translation elonga-tion factor 1- alpha encoding gene (tef1). The results of the phylogenetic analysis showed that each new species formed a distinct clade: T. nigricans is a new member of the Atroviride Clade, and T. densissimum and T. paradensissimum belong to the Harzianum Clade. A detailed description of the morphology and cultural characteristics of the newly discovered Trichoderma species is provided, and these characteristics were compared with those of closely related species to better understand the taxonomic relationships within the Trichoderma.

Abstract:During the investigations of discomycetes in Yunnan, China, five species of Tatraea were discovered on decayed, decorticated oak trees or unidentified wood. All species have typical disc-like, large fruiting bodies with grey, brown or greyish-green colors. The ITS sequence analysis showed that they belong to Tatraea ( Helotiaceae , Helotiales ) and the LSU and ITS combination revealed a different topology within the genus. Four species, T. clepsydriformis , T. griseoturcoisina , T. yunnanensis and T. yuxiensis were established as new species, and T. aseptata was collected and described on oak woods. The pairwise homoplasy index ( PHI ) test results indicated that there is no significant genetic recombination (Φ w = 1.0) between all related species pairs. All the species described here are supported by descriptions, illustrations and multi-gene analyses.

Abstract:Hegnera obcordata (Miq.) Schindl., is reported here as a newly recorded genus and species for the flora of China. It was collected from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province and Changjiang, Hainan Province. As a member of the tribe Desmodieae, H. obcordata can be easily distinguished from other genera by its climbing habit, depressed obovate terminal leaflet with an obcordate apex, and pods with U-shaped articles and deeply indented upper sutures. This study provides a detailed morphological description, phenology, distribution map and colored photographs of H. obcordata. Additionally, an updated dichotomous key to the Chinese Desmodieae genera is provided.

Abstract:During an investigation of lignicolous freshwater fungi in the Tibetan Plateau, three Aquapteridospora taxa were collected from freshwater habitats in Xizang, China. The new species possess polyblastic, sympodial, denticles conidiogenous cells and fusiform, septate, with or without sheath conidial, that fit within the generic concept of Aquapteridospora , and multi-gene phylogeny placed these species within Aquapteridospora . Detailed morphological observations clearly demarcate three of these from extant species and are hence described as new taxa. The multi-gene phylogeny of the combined LSU , TEF 1-α, and ITS sequence data to infer phylogenetic relationships and discuss phylogenetic affinities with morphologically similar species. Based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analyses, three new species viz. A. linzhiensis , A. yadongensis , and A. submersa are introduced. Details of asexual morphs are described, and justifications for establishing these new species are also provided in this study.

Abstract:Nectriaceae is a highly diverse family, and members have a worldwide distribution, particularly in warm temperate to tropical regions. During the survey of fungal diversity in different habitats in Yunnan province, China, two new species isolated from soil and air respectively, namely Atractiumyunnanense sp. nov. and Nalanthamalaxishuangbannaensis sp. nov., were proposed based on morphological comparisons and the multi-gene phylogenetic analyses of combined ITS, LSU, rpb2, and tub2 sequence data. Phylogenetically, both species clustered in a monophyletic clade within Nectriaceae with strong support. A.yunnanense is characterized by synnematous conidiophores, pale olivaceous-green, clavate to oblong-ellipsoidal, multi-septate conidia, and pale olivaceous-green chlamydospores. N.xishuangbannaensis has acremonium-like or penicillium-like conidiophores and either obovate or ellipsoidal, cylindrical or fusiform conidia. Full descriptions, illustrations, and a phylogenetic tree showing the phylogenetic position of the two new species were provided.

Abstract:Three new species of Isodon ( Lamiaceae ) from China are described and illustrated, based on both morphological evidence and our recent phylogenomic studies of the genus. Isodon attenuatus , a herbaceous new species known only from the Fanjing Mountain, is shown to be sister to I. villosus , but they can be easily distinguished by leaf and inflorescence indumentum, calyx teeth shape and corolla tube morphology. Isodon gongshanensis , a herbaceous new species collected from the Hengduan Mountains in southwest China, represents a distinct lineage within the genus. Isodon sukungii , a shrubby new species also endemic to the Hengduan Mountains, was previously misidentified as I. tenuifolius , but they are phylogenetically distantly related and differ in lamina size and margin, inflorescence type and corolla length and shape.

Abstract:As the supplement of the flora of Zhejiang, East China, two new species were described with illustrations. Cerastiumhuadingense Y.F.Lu, W.Y.Xie & X.F.Jin (Caryophyllaceae) differs from C.qingliangfengicum in having sterile stems absent, leaves sessile, petals slightly longer than sepals, and stamens slightly shorter than sepals. Ixeridiumdimorphifolium Y.L.Xu, Y.F.Lu & X.Cai (Asteraceae) differs from I.beauverdianum in having plant stoloniferous, basal leaves dimorphic, involucre 8‒10 mm long, inner phyllaries 8, and florets 7‒10. Paraphlomissetulosa C.Y.Wu & H.W.Li (Lamiaceae) was reviewed and morphological characters of the corolla and stamens of its type and the specimens collected in the field survey were critically examined. With barbate anthers and strongly divergent anther cells, Paraphlomissetulosa was transferred to Sinopogonanthera, and S.setulosa (C.Y.Wu & H.W.Li) H.W.Zhang & X.F.Jin was consequently combined.

Abstract:During our investigation of microfungi on grasslands in Yunnan Province, China, three new fungal taxa associated with grasses were collected. Morphological observations and phylogenetic analyses of the combined SSU, LSU, ITS, tef1-α , and rpb2 loci based on maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference were used to reveal the taxonomic placement of these fungal taxa. This study introduces Parastagonospora yunnanensis , Para. zhaotongensis , Phaeoseptoriella poaceicola . Parastagonospora yunnanensis is characterized by ampulliform or globose to subglobose conidiogenous cells, with conidia that are cylindrical to subcylindrical, 0–1-septate, rounded at the apex and slightly truncate at the base. Parastagonospora zhaotongensis features similar globose to subglobose conidiogenous cells but with 0–3-septate, cylindrical to subcylindrical conidia. Phaeoseptoriella poaceicola is distinguished by its globose to subglobose conidiogenous cells and phragmosporous conidia that are initially hyaline, turn pale yellowish at maturity, and are 7-septate, cylindrical to subcylindrical, either straight or slightly curved. These discoveries underscore the significance of exploring and accurately identifying fungal taxa within Ascomycota , highlighting the species richness and potential for new species discoveries in grass-based habitats. The findings from this study expand our understanding of the taxonomy and phylogeny of grassland-associated Ascomycota , providing a foundation for further ecological and taxonomic studies of these fungi within their natural environments.

Two new species of Nectriaceae (Hypocreales, Sordariomycetes) from Yunnan, China
