Abstract:In this paper, an iteration method without derivatives for multiple roots is proposed. This method proved to be quadratically convergent. Its efficiency and accuracy are illustrated by numerical experiments.

Abstract:In this paper, we first establish a rational iteration method which can be used as a root-finding algorithm for almost every polynomial. It has no nonrepelling extraneous fixed point in the complex plane and is generally convergent for both quadratic and cubic polynomials. Then some properties of this algorithm are given. By the aid of computer, we produce pictures of the Julia sets for the iterations of some polynomials. Numerical results show that it is a root-finding method with convergence order the same as Halley's method.

Abstract:In this paper we present some substantial modifications and improvements for some derivative-free iterative formulae. We propose some new methods which are convergent iterative formulae of order 1 + root 2 approximate to 2.414 with only two evaluations of f per step. Thus the new methods enjoy the efficiency index root(1 + root 2) approximate to 1.554. Especially, a new method of self-accelerating regula falsi type with global convergence for finding a simple root p of a nonlinear equation f(x) = 0 in the interval [a, b] is offered in this paper. The new method of self-accelerating regula falsi type is shown to be convergent with order 1 + root 2 approximate to 2.414 for both the sequences of diameters {(b(n) - a(n))} and the iterative points {x(n)}. The new method has been tested on a series of published examples. The numerical results demonstrate that the new method is more effective. Furthermore, we introduce a derivative-free transformation for multiple zeros and consider its error analysis and then demonstrate its superiority by comparing it with the traditional ones. Abstract:A plethora of higher order iterative methods, involving derivatives in algorithms, are available in the literature for finding multiple roots. Contrary to this fact, the higher order methods without derivatives in the iteration are difficult to construct, and hence, such methods are almost non-existent. This motivated us to explore a derivative-free iterative scheme with optimal fourth order convergence. The applicability of the new scheme is shown by testing on different functions, which illustrates the excellent convergence. Moreover, the comparison of the performance shows that the new technique is a good competitor to existing optimal fourth order Newton-like techniques.

Abstract:A family of new iteration methods without employing derivatives is proposed in this paper. We have proved that these new methods are quadratic convergence. Their efficiency is demonstrated by numerical experiments. The numerical experiments show that our algorithms are comparable to well-known methods of Newton and Steffensen. Furthermore, combining the new method with bisection method we construct another new high-order iteration method with nice asymptotic convergence properties of the diameters (bn − an).

We develop a method that only simple root is needed computing, either the roots are real or complex, Firstly, a Parallel algorithm for computing the greatest common factor of two polynomials is put forward; Secondly, a standard decomposing for a polynomial is given. Lastly, a method for converting the complex roots of a polynomial to the real roots of another polynomials is obtained.

Abstract:Numerous branches of applied science and engineering commonly encounter nonlinear equations that must be solved using effective numerical techniques. This research article introduces an iterative method that exhibits an optimal fourth-order convergence rate, ensuring rapid and accurate approximation of the roots. Unlike conventional methods, the proposed algorithm can successfully converge even when the derivative is zero or approaches zero in the vicinity of the desired root. This remarkable feature enhances the applicability of the method, allowing it to handle situations where conventional methods fail due to the presence of critical points such as the roots of f′(x)=0 . The convergence analysis of the proposed method is presented, showing its superior performance compared to other methods. Extensive numerical experiments are conducted to validate the efficiency and accuracy of the algorithm. The results indicate that the proposed iterative method not only achieves fast convergence but also exhibits robustness in handling various types of nonlinear equations. Its ability to converge even in the presence of zero or near-zero derivatives significantly expands the scope of applications, making it a valuable tool for solving complex problems in science and engineering.

Abstract:This paper presents a fifth-order iterative method as a new modification of Newton’s method for finding multiple roots of nonlinear equations with unknown multiplicity m. Its convergence order is analyzed and proved. Moreover, several numerical examples demonstrate that the proposed iterative method is superior to the existing methods.

Abstract:There are numerous applications for finding zero of derivatives in function optimization. In this paper, a two-step fourth-order method was presented for finding a zero of the derivative. In the research process of iterative methods, determining the ball of convergence was one of the important issues. This paper discussed the radii of the convergence ball, uniqueness of the solution, and the measurable error distances. In particular, in contrast to Wang's method under hypotheses up to the fourth derivative, the local convergence of the new method was only analyzed under hypotheses up to the second derivative, and the convergence order of the new method was increased to four. Furthermore, different radii of the convergence ball was determined according to different weaker hypotheses. Finally, the convergence criteria was verified by three numerical examples and the new method was compared with Wang's method and the same order method by numerical experiments. The experimental results showed that the convergence order of the new method is four and the new method has higher accuracy at the same cost, so the new method is finer.

Abstract:In this manuscript, we introduce a two‐step convergent iterative scheme to compute the roots with multiplicity m of nonlinear equations. Most of the schemes in literature have flexibility at either first substep or second step, while our scheme has the flexibility of choice at both substeps so that many existing methods are obtained as special cases. Our scheme has another advantage over earlier studies: It not only works for m≥2 but also m≥1 . It is shown that the methods obtained by our scheme are optimal as they satisfy Kung–Traub conjecture. Several physical and chemical examples are considered to check the performance of the methods and to analyze the theoretical results, and it is found that our methods show preferred outcomes over the existing schemes. Likewise, the basins of attraction of the schemes also confirm the same results for the performance of the suggested techniques over the compared ones.

Abstract:On the basis of Wang's method, a new fourth-order method for finding a zero of a derivative was presented. Under the hypotheses that the third and fourth order derivatives of nonlinear function were bounded, the local convergence of a new fourth-order method was studied. The error estimate, the order of convergence, and uniqueness of the solution were also discussed. In particular, Herzberger's matrix method was used to obtain the convergence order of the new method to four. By comparing the new method with Wang's method and the same order method, numerical illustrations showed that the new method has a higher order of convergence and accuracy.

Abstract:In this paper, we use weight function approach to construct a new King-like family of methods to solve nonlinear equations with multiple roots. Here the weight functions are chosen appropriately to reach the maximum convergence order eight and the family is optimal in the sense of Kung–Traub conjecture. Moreover, local convergence of a fourth order modified King's family for multiple roots is also studied. Radii of convergence balls of fourth order schemes are computed and compared with an existing method. Numerical examples have been presented based on applications of some real life problems and the results obtained show the superiority of our eighth order schemes over the existing ones. To study the dynamical behaviour of the proposed schemes, basins of attraction have also been presented which verifies that proposed eighth order schemes have more convergent points and requires less number of iterations in comparison to the existing methods.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that the order of a new secant-like method presented recently with the so-called order of 2.618 is only 2.414. Some mistakes in the derivation leading to such a conclusion are pointed out. Meanwhile, under the assumption that the second derivative of the involved function is bounded, the convergence radius of the secant-like method is given, and error estimates matching its convergence order are also provided by using a generalized Fibonacci sequence. Abstract:Many problems in applied mathematics require root finding algorithms. Unfortunately, root finding methods have limitations. Firstly, regarding the convergence, there is a trade-off between the size of it's domain and it's rate. Secondly the numerous evaluations of the function and its derivatives penalize the efficiency of high order methods. In this article, we present a family of high order methods, that require few functional evaluations ( One for each step plus one for each considered derivative at the start of the method), thus increasing the efficiency of the methods.

Abstract:In this paper, we present the error analysis of a new transformation for multiple zeros finding without calculating derivatives, which is a kind of version proposed in a recent paper of this journal, see [1]. We prove that the new derivative-free transformation could succeed in the maximum accuracy that is attainable at fixed precision of computation and preserves the order of convergence of the iteration method in the case of multiple zeros and show the advantage of this new transformation, compared with the other ones.

Abstract:In this paper, we present an efficient method for solving a class of higher order fractional differential equations with general boundary conditions. The convergence of the numerical method is proved and an error estimate is given. Finally, eight numerical examples, both linear and nonlinear, are presented to demonstrate the accuracy of our method. The proposed method introduces suitable base functions to calculate the approximate solutions and only requires us to deal with the linear or nonlinear systems. Thus, our method is convenient to implement. Furthermore, the numerical results show that the proposed method performs better compared to the existing ones.

Abstract:A new and improved version of Mullcr method and Bisection method with global and asymptotic superlinear convergence for finding a simple root x* of a nonlinear equation f(x)=0 in the interval [a,b] is proposed in this paper. The new iteration procedure combines Muller method with Bisection method to generate simultaneously two sequences {xn} which goes to x* and {[an,bn]} which encloses x*. The global and superlinear convergence for the both sequences {xn} and {bn−an} are analyzed. The asymptotic efficiency index of the improved Muller method and Bisection method for the both sequences {xn} and {bn−an} proves to be 1.84 approximately on certain conditions, in the sense of Ostrowski. As a result, the new and improved version of Muller method and Bisection method preserve their respective nice property and remove their respective defect. The new version has been tested on a series of elementary functions. The numerical results show that the new version of Muller method and Bisection method proposed in this paper is more effective compared with the traditional version for solving nonlinear equations. For the computation of multiple zeros a effective strategy is discussed.

Abstract:We presented a family of iteration methods for solving the approximate solutions of the nonlinear equations f(x)=0.We proved the iteration methods have third-order convergence,and the methods have the advantage of avoiding the computation of the second Frechet derivative.We performed different numerical tests that confirm the theoretical results.Our methods can compete with Newton's method and some classical third-order methods.
