Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression and their clinical significance of CD44s and Mib-1 antigen in human astrocytomas.Methods The expression of CD44s and Mib-1 were detected in 41 cases of different degrees of astrocytomas specimen by immunohistochemistry using avidin-biotin-peroxidase complex(ABC) method.Their correlations with glioma malignancy and prognosis were statistically analyzed.Results High grade glioma in the expression of CD44s and Mib-1 were higher than those in low grade glioma(P = 0.008,0.002).CD44s and Mib-1 expression were positively correlated(P < 0.01 and r = 0.6).CD44s and Mib-1 progression-free survival time in low expression group were significantly greater than those of high expression of group.Conclusion The histological malignancy of the astrocytomas is correlated with expression of CD44s and Mib-17.They are important prognostic factors in astrocytomas.
