Abstract:Quality improvement will be the core of higher education development in the later years.Under such a circumstance,the 8th Academic Conference of Higher Education between Mainland China and Taiwan was held in Shanghai.At this Conference,participants from across the Straits have undertaken a comprehensive and profound discussion and communication about several topics confronted by university faculty,such as situation and opportunities of professional development,career confusions,experience and problems in staff development and management,etc.Finally,they have reached a consensus that professional development of university faculty has played an indispensable role in the quality improvement of higher education and meanwhile,the professional development of university faculty calls for the joint efforts from the government,the universities and faculty themselves.
