Abstract:Frequently rearranged in advanced T-cell lymphomas 1(Fratl),an activator of Wnt signal transduction pathway, plays a role in embryonic development and tumor pathogenesis;and aberrant activation of Wnt signal pathway is associated with the pathogenesis of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Aims:To study the plasma level and clinical significance of Fratl in patients with IBD.Methods:Forty-two patients with Crohn's disease(CD),55 patients with ulcerative colitis(UC) and 56 healthy controls from Jun.2009 to May 2010 at Shanghai Huadong Hospital were enrolled in this study.Plasma level of Fratl was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Diagnostic value of plasma level of Fratl to IBD was analyzed by receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve. The association of plasma level of Fratl with clinical disease activity was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis. Results:The plasma level of Fratl was significantly lower in patients with UC than in healthy controls(6.55 pg/ml vs.17.81 pg/ml,P<0.001),however, no significant difference was found between patients with CD and healthy controls(P=0.8995).ROC curve indicated that plasma level of Fratl had no statistical significance in distinguishing patients with UC from healthy controls(P=0.2736). And in patients with UC there was no significant correlation between plasma level of Fratl and erythrocyte sedimentation rate(P=0.5994),C-reactive protein(P=0.4685) and Mayo score(P=0.3663).Conclusions:Plasma level of Fratl is lower in patients with UC,which may have some potential correlation with the pathogenesis of UC.
