Selective nonoperative management of traumatic splenic rupture in adults

Abstract:Objective To summarize the experience in selective nonoperative management of traumatic spleen rupture in adults.Methods Forty-five cases of traumatic splenic rupture in adults were analyzed retrospectively.Indications and keys of nonoperative management of traumatic splenic rupture were discussed.Results Forty-three of 45 cases were cured by nonoperative management and 2 cases were converted to splenectomy.Conclusion Nonopeative management should be attempted in lower grades(grade I and grade II) patients with traumatic splenic rupture.
