Abstract:In China, the rapid development greatly greatly promotes the national economic power and living standard but also inevitably brings a series of environmental problems. In order to resolve these problems fundamentally, Chinese scientists have been undertaking research in the area of green chemical engineering (GCE) for many years and achieved great progresses. In this paper, we reviewed the research progresses related to GCE in China and screened four typical topics related to the Chinese and screened four typical topics related to the Chinese resources characteristics and environmental requirements, i.e. ionic liquids and their applications, biomass utilization and bio-based materials/products, green solvent-mediated extraction technologies, and cold plas-mas for coal conversion. Afterwards, the perspectives and development tendencies of GCE were proposed, and the challenges which will be faced while developing available industrial technologies in China were mentioned.

Abstract:With the increasingly serious problems of environmental impact and excessive consumption of production resources brought about by industrial development, enterprises pay more and more attention to the green manufacturing of industry. In the existing green manufacturing standard system, it clearly covers all elements, layers, activities and functions of green manufacturing. However, it does not refine the specific contents of green manufacturing model and framework in different industrial areas. The research in this paper can fill this gap. This paper aims to provide a general model and overall framework of green manufacturing for industrial enterprises. In this way, according to the needs and conditions, enterprises can construct and formulate a clear plan for the implementation of green manufacturing that conforms to their actual situation of enterprises. By these, it can ultimately enhance the improvement ratio of comprehensive green rate for enterprises. In this paper, a general reference model for green manufacturing based on IIPG (Industrial Implementation for Product life cycle based on Green index system) modular is proposed. Then, in the form of a case, three enterprises in three key industrial fields are selected to customize and validate the model. Integrating with intelligence technologies, such as artificial intelligence and industrial cloud, this model can be improved by the higher data processing efficiency and computing speed in green index systems, which is the follow-up work.

Abstract:Green manufacturing is an advanced manufacturing approach, which comprehensively considers environmental impact and resource efficiency and is considered as the future direction of modern manufacturing industry. However, the current situation, technologies, and development strategies of China's green furniture manufacturing have not been comprehensively analyzed and a complete furniture industry green manufacturing technology system is lacking. Here, to fill such knowledge gap, through an extensive review of literatures on manufacturing process and implications of green furniture, which consists of data identification, initial screening, eligibility determination, and final inclusion, this study (1) analyzed the current situation and existing challenges of green furniture manufacturing in China, (2) proposed and discussed a systemic green manufacturing concept for China's furniture based on the current situation, and (3) suggested strategies corresponding to the challenges. The results show that although China has determined that the implementation of green manufacturing is the only sensible way for the development of its furniture industry, many aspects of it, such as public awareness, manufacturing technology, and legal regulations are lacking. The proposed comprehensive green manufacturing concept regarding green manufacturing includes green design, green materials selection, green processes, green packaging, green recycling, etc. The proposed strategies include developing a green manufacturing strategy for furniture enterprises, strengthening the development of green furniture products, improving the production mode of green furniture, and promoting the coordinated development of green production in furniture industry. This study will play a guiding role in promoting the implementation of green manufacturing and achieving a sustainable development of the Chinese furniture industry. Additionally, it also provides a reference for the world furniture enterprises.

Abstract:Green Manufacturing is the term for innovative production methods aimed at reducing adverse environmental impacts via waste reduction, waste recycling, better natural resource utilisation, and other allied measures. It transcends the “reduce, reuse, recycle” strategy of 3R into a 5R approach: “repair, reuse, refurbish, rebuild and recycle”, which leads to much better utilisation of resources and longer product life. It is feasible to achieve “zero waste”. Reduction of hazardous emissions in manufacturing products and support for employees and the local community have helped firms reflect their efforts worldwide with the help of green manufacturing. The Internet of Things (IoT) may have overshadowed the green trend, but green production is not going away. The IoT can be another way to make a company more ecological, but Green manufacturing is vital to attaining sustainable businesses. To make this study relevant, papers on green manufacturing for Sustainability are identified from Scopus, Google scholar, ResearchGate, Science Direct and other research platforms and further studied briefly. This study summarises Green Manufacturing and its importance in establishing a sustainable environment. Different strategic tools and specialised methods for Green Manufacturing for a Sustainable Environment are identified and discussed, as well as crucial Green Manufacturing applications for a sustainable environment.

Abstract:Nowadays, issues on population, environment and resource have become the world’s attentive focus. Sustainable development has been widely accepted around the world. As one of the biggest waste generator and resources consumer, manufacturing industry is facing more challenges as well as opportunities. In order to reduce both resource consuming and waste discharging effectively, traditionally manufacturing mode should be improved. Newly emerged creative technologies and strategies, including green design, green manufacturing and cleaner production, are regarded as the radical resolvent for current environment and resource issues and they will be the only way in the future that manufacturing will evolve. In this paper, a serial of research on green design/manufacturing and cleaner product theoretically and practically was presented. These creative technology and strategy will give strong support to ‘green’ the whole electromechanical designing and manufacturing processes.

Abstract:In an era characterised by mounting environmental concerns and a growing awareness of the critical need for sustainability, the manufacturing industry stands at a crossroads. “Regenerative Manufacturing” emerges as a visionary strategy that not only tries to lower the ecological footprint of production but also seeks to restore and rejuvenate ecosystems, communities, and economies. This abstract provides a look into the profound potential of regenerative manufacturing, showcasing its main principles, processes, and its transformational impact on the future of design and production. Regenerative manufacturing signifies a fundamental transformation in the conceptualization, production, and use of items. The manufacturing process incorporates sustainability, circularity, and resilience throughout all its stages, encompassing material selection, design, production, distribution, and end-of-life concerns. The holistic approach discussed here places significant emphasis on the reduction of waste, optimisation of energy usage, and the utilisation of regenerative resources. This strategy aims to establish a regenerative cycle that actively supports the nourishment of the environment, rather than causing its depletion By employing novel methodologies such as biomimicry and generative design, this approach effectively harnesses the knowledge inherent in nature to stimulate the development of sustainable solutions. Abstract:It is well acknowledged that, China is a country with copious manufacturing industries, and Chinese industrial products spread all over the world. Research into the theory and practice of evaluating manufacturing factories in China is of highly significant. However, the traditional method of evaluating factories tends to focus on individual aspects such as efficiency, energy conservation, and environmental protections. There have been relatively few reports covering comprehensive evaluation methods for a systematic green factory. Based on an analysis of the current situation in various countries and regions, the concept and scope of the China Green Factory (CGF) have been defined. The characteristics of a CGF include the intensification of land, the decontamination of raw materials, clean production, waste administration, and the reduction of carbon and energy. The objectives of this paper are to highlight the current policy and research on the CGFs, quantify the positive effects of CGFs, and make some suggestions for future development.

Abstract:In order to develop the new environment-friendly synthetic leaves, the concept of synthetic leaves based on microcapillary plastic film (MCF) is proposed according to the existing MCF process. The manufacturing scheme of multi-scale synthetic leaves based on MCF is designed below: (1) development of new dynamic MCF extrusion technology, (2) manufacturing of synthetic leaves with controlled dynamic microcapillary and multi-scale microstructure using the supercritical fluid foaming and the excimer laser drilling technology, (3) functional bionic of the leaf transpiration. The feasibility of the above-mentioned scheme is proved with the carried-out experiments. The successful development of the MCF synthetic leaves will not only provide a new way to solve the desertification problem, but also to promote advancement of many fields such as micro-structure plastic processing, plant physiology ecology, bionics and micro fluidic system.

Abstract:Green innovation, which combines "innovation-driven" and "green development," is one of the most powerful ways to overcome resource and environmental constraints and enhance manufacturing industry sustainability. Based on the innovation value chain perspective, the green innovation process of manufacturing industry is decomposed into two stages: green scientific and technological R&D and achievement transformation. Then, using the three-stage DEA and Malmquist index model to measure the green innovation performance of China's manufacturing industry, and compare its regional heterogeneity from the dual perspectives of static efficiency and dynamic productivity. In addition, this paper further discusses the improvement path of green innovation performance of China's manufacturing industry. The findings are as follows: (1)The green innovation efficiency of manufacturing industry in China is at a comparatively low degree and has great potential for improvement. Moreover, it shows apparent regional heterogeneity: The green innovation efficiency in the eastern region is higher than that in the western region, and both are higher than that in the center region, confirming the phenomenon of "central collapse". (2)The green innovation productivity of China's manufacturing industry shows a "W-type" dynamic evolution tendency, with green technological progress as the key driving factor, while the green technical efficiency does not clearly exhibit a "catch-up effect". Additionally, it shows significant regional heterogeneity: green innovation productivity in the western region is higher than that in the central and eastern regions, indicating a potential "backwardness advantage". (3) The eastern region of China is located in combination IV, which indicates that it has a high rate of green innovation efficiency but a low rate of green innovation productivity; the central region is located in combination III, which indicates that it has a low rate of both green innovation efficiency and productivity; and the western region is located in combination II, which indicates that it has a low rate of green innovation efficiency but a high rate of green innovation productivity. Last but not least, this paper puts forward three kinds of paths for the improvement of the green innovation performance of China's manufacturing industry: unilateral breakthrough, step-by-step and stimulating jumping type.

Abstract:The development of green manufacturing (GM) is a key approach to handle industrial challenges to the environment while advancing sustainable economic improvement. This paper profoundly discusses about GM's standards, challenges, opportunities and changes that contribute to its significance and course of activity and reduces the burden on environment. It is an all-encompassing show of manufacturing that requires environmental responsibility from each phases of the product life cycle to make that Eco friendly. This includes the utilization of eco-friendly materials, implementation of a green plan, proficient waste administration, regulatory compliance as well as stakeholder engagement. In order to reduce environmental damage, preserve resources, and improve operational productivity within the production line through sustainability integration into production forms GM is executed. GM has different decision-making and operational techniques at core that are guided by several key standards and devices. These include waste reductions, energy-efficient items, and green plans. To reduce waste production, optimize energy utilization and accept the idea of sustainable design in arrange to empower natural moderation whereas progressing takes a toll possibility and asset utilization is what the producers can achieve. Effective GM arrangements have required collective exertion, authority, and regular growth. Even though challenges like adherence to adoption or a combination of innovations need to be covered, GM also speaks to major possible opportunities for development, secure funds, and market differentiation. Manufacturers who agreed to ecofriendly measures and misuse rising advances are projected to boost their worldwide recognition by upgrading competitiveness over industries as they contribute towards an economical and sustainable future. The future of GM is unusual due to the existence of unused patterns that are rising. Modern trends like artificial intelligence-based techniques, bio-based materials also blockchain innovation offer a lot of potential in terms of making assembly lines more economical and effective at the same time. Abstract:Green manufacturing (GM) has been garnering the attention of academia since the 1990s, with the evolution of many related concepts, as one of the most essential topics for human beings' sustainable development. After nearly three decades of growth, a general map of existing research is now required to reflect the major concepts and concerns at hand. A bibliometric analysis is used to do this. The main contribution of this research is to concentrate on the use and impact of lean and green manufacturing approaches. The manufacturing industry's frequent issues and misunderstandings are investigated. This study examines the parallels and benefits of both lean and green techniques. It enables industries to have a better grasp of the tools' use and challenges before moving on with the lean and green approach's actual deployment. This report also addresses potential research gaps related to the industry's need for an effective green implementation approach.

Abstract:China's manufacturing industry needs to change from a high-emission model to one that is more environmentally friendly to reduce air pollution and achieve sustainable growth. Therefore, it is important to decrease manufacturing waste gas emissions by improving green productivity. This paper expands on the theories of green economic growth and sustainable development to present a framework for analysis of manufacturing green productivity at various levels of air pollution. It applies the Metafrontier Malmquist Luenberger index and SBM model to data from 30 Chinese manufacturing sectors from 2012 to 2022 to identify the obstacles to developing green productivity in the manufacturing sectors. The results show that: (1) From 2012 to 2022, the overall waste gas emission efficiency and GTFP of China's manufacturing industry showed an increasing trend. (2) The manufacturing industry with light air pollution had the fastest growth in GTFP, followed by manufacturing with heavy air pollution, and manufacturing with moderate air pollution had the lowest. (3) The primary driver of GTFP growth is technological progress, while technical inefficiency has severely hindered GTFP growth. (4) There is a "Matthew effect" in the green productivity of China's manufacturing industry. High waste gas emission efficiency often accompanies high levels of GTFP, and vice versa. Finally, this paper proposes policy suggestions to improve the green productivity of the manufacturing industry and reduce air pollution.
