Abstract:In this paper, we present a linear quantum transformation theory in the m-mode boson Fock space, and give a formula that shows how a transformation operator changes its exponential form to its normal ordered form. As an application we evaluate the partition function of a general quadratic system without any information of the energy levels of the system by using our transformation theory.

Abstract:The quantum-mechanical problem of bosons, in a square well in one dimension and interacting with a \ensuremath{\delta} function, is analyzed and solved. The resulting Bethe-ansatz wave function is a sum, over the Weyl group of Lie algebra ${\mathit{B}}_{\mathit{N}}$, of nondiffractive waves. The secular equation of the spectrum is obtained and its thermodynamic limit is discussed.

Abstract:We discuss the necessity of using non-standard boson operators for diagonalizing quadratic bosonic forms which are not positive definite and its convenience for describing the temporal evolution of the system. Such operators correspond to non-hermitian coordinates and momenta and are associated with complex frequencies. As application, we examine a bosonic version of a BCS-like pairing Hamiltonian, which, in contrast with the fermionic case, is stable just for limited values of the gap parameter and requires the use of the present extended treatment for a general diagonal representation. The dynamical stability of such forms and the occurrence of non-diagonalizable cases are also discussed.

Abstract:Summary A general theory for the linear transformation in Bargmann-Fock space ofn-mode boson system is presented. It is pointed out that the unbounded operators should not be excluded absolutely and the use of the non-unitary transformations is irresistible in many applications. The group structure of the transformation is analysed and the explicit expressions of the transformation operators in terms of normal ordering are given. As some applications, a series of useful operator identities are given and the decoupling problem for general two-boson interaction is studied.

Abstract:The classical Hamiltonian for which the dynamics is represented by trajectories in a multidimensional phase (coset) space is quantized via Lyapunov analysis. A system of one electron in four sites and the vibration of H2O with Fermi resonance is studied. The quantization condition is that the average Lyapunov exponents show local minima as a function of the classical energy. This means that it requests the least global chaoticity. This quantization algorithm leads to results consistent with those obtained by the quantal models.

Abstract:Equivalent approaches to determine eigenfrequencies of the Liouvillians of open quantum systems are discussed using the solution of the Heisenberg-Langevin equations and the corresponding equations for operator moments. A simple damped two-level atom is analyzed to demonstrate the equivalence of both approaches. The suggested method is used to reveal the structure as well as eigenfrequencies of the dynamics matrices of the corresponding equations of motion and their degeneracies for interacting bosonic modes described by general quadratic Hamiltonians. Quantum Liouvillian exceptional and diabolical points and their degeneracies are explicitly discussed for the case of two modes. Quantum hybrid diabolical exceptional points (inherited, genuine, and induced) and hidden exceptional points, which are not recognized directly in amplitude spectra, are observed. The presented approach via the Heisenberg-Langevin equations paves the general way to a detailed analysis of quantum exceptional and diabolical points in infinitely dimensional open quantum systems.

Abstract:The framework of third quantization - canonical quantization in the Liouville space - is developed for open many-body bosonic systems. We show how to diagonalize the quantum Liouvillean for an arbitrary quadratic n-boson Hamiltonian with arbitrary linear Lindblad couplings to the baths and, as an example, explicitly work out a general case of a single boson.

Abstract:The quantum-mechanical problem of $N$ fermions with $\delta$-function interaction in a one-dimensional potential well of finite depth is solved. It is shown that there exists exact wave function of Bethe-ansatz form in the case that a single particle tunnels outside of the well. The Bethe-ansatz like secular equations for the spectrum are obtained.

Abstract:The concept of electron holes plays a significant role in condensed matter physics. Here we develop the concept of bosonic holes, which exhibit negative particle excitations, in quadratic bosonic systems. Unlike electron holes, the Fock states of bosonic holes are biorthogonal, and their excitation can be interpreted as removing particles from a mean-particle number with a mean field background. Furthermore, we find that quadratic bosonic Hamiltonians related by non unitary and local particle hole transformation possess the same locality structure and spectral properties in different spaces, reflecting the PH duality. Based on this, we study the generation of PH entanglement in two mode cases and the PH Aharonov Bohm effect in the three mode case, which results in a PH chiral flow with time reversal symmetry breaking. Our findings provide a new way to understand and explore unusual physical phenomena in particle non conserving and non Hermitian systems.

Abstract:Using the operator formulation we discuss the bosonization of the two-dimensional derivative-coupling model. The fully bosonized quantum Hamiltonian is obtained by computing the composite operators as the leading terms in the Wilson short distance expansion for the operator products at the same point. In addition, the quantum Hamiltonian contains topological terms which give trivial contributions to the equations of motion. Taking into account the quantum corrections to the bosonic equations of motion and to the scale dimension of the Fermi field operator, the operator solution is obtained in terms of a generalized Mandelstam soliton operator with continuous Lorentz spin (generalized statistics).

Quadratic Hamiltonians in Fermionic Fock Spaces

Abstract:Quadratic Hamiltonians are important in quantum field theory and quantum statistical mechanics. Their general studies, which go back to the sixties, are relatively incomplete for the fermionic case studied here. Following Berezin, they are quadratic in the fermionic field and in this way well-defined self-adjoint operators acting on the fermionic Fock space. We analyze their diagonalization by applying a novel elliptic operator-valued differential equations studied in a companion paper. This allows for their ($\mathrm{N}$-) diagonalization under much weaker assumptions than before. Last but not least, in 1994 Bach, Lieb and Solovej defined them to be generators of strongly continuous unitary groups of Bogoliubov transformations. This is shown to be an equivalent definition, as soon as the vacuum state belongs to the domain of definition of these Hamiltonians. This second outcome is demonstrated to be reminiscent to the celebrated Shale-Stinespring condition on Bogoliubov transformations.
