Expression of L-plastin in plasma and tumor tissues of the patients with colorectal carcinoma and their clinical significance

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the expression of L-plastin in plasma and tumor tissues of patients with colorectal carcinoma,and to analyse their correlationship with the pathological staging and prognosis.Methods ELISA was used to detect L-plastin in plasma of 120 colorectal carcinoma patients and 40 normal persons;and Western blot was used to detect the expression of L-plastin in tissues.Results The positive rate of L-plastin expression both in plasma and in tissues was significantly higher in patients with colorectal carcinoma than in normal persons.The expression of L-plastin was significantly higher in the tumor tissues than in para-tumor tissues as shown by Western blot.L-plastin expression was correlated with tumor grading,the size of tumor and the degree of lymph node metastasis.But,the depth of tumor invasion and remote metastasis,bore no correlation with it.Conclusions The expression of L-plastin in plasma and tumor tissues of colorectal cancer patients is significantly increased,and is in correlation with the degree of tumor differentiation and lymph node metastasis.It might be used as the basis of screening,prognosis determination and targeted therapy in cases of colorectal carcinoma.
