Abstract:An experiment was conducted to study the differences of tannin contents in Larix gmelini in different regions and seasons. Results show that tannin content varies with the change of time and clime, and temperature is an important influencing factor which results io a seasonal change and a regional difference in tannin contents. At the same clime, the differences of tannin contents in the bark, sapwood, needle, and branch!are similar in different seasons with a peak in January and a peak in September. Tannin content shows a significant difference in the bark and needle of L. gmelini from different climes, and it exhibits an increasing trend with latitude increasing. Tannin content has a significantly negative correlation with average temperature and extreme low temperature.
