Abstract:In 2019, China achieved a milestone in higher education with a gross enrollment rate surpassing 50%, signifying the internationally recognized phase of "universalization". In 2023, the escalating number of college graduates amounted to 11.58 million, an increase of 0.8 million over the last year, reaching a new high in scale. Despite this remarkable progress, the employment rate of college graduates has remained low and stagnant over the past two decades. This paradox highlights the pressing need to address the employment challenges faced by a growing number of college graduates in China. The existing supply structure of college graduates, including education levels, academic disciplines, spatial distribution, and core competencies, is inconsistent with the demand structure of the labor market. This mismatch emphasizes the necessity for both the supply and demand sides to collaborate in resolving the college graduate employment problem. By advancing the industrial structure, optimizing the configuration of higher education, and fostering a culture of innovation, a harmonious integration of the higher education system with economic development, market demands, and long-term planning can be achieved. The strategies proposed in this study offer practical solutions to promote sustainable employment for college graduates in China.

Abstract:University students are valuable human resources in today's society, and employment is fundamental to people's livelihoods. Therefore, effectively addressing the employment of college graduates is not only related to various national economic, social, and political issues but is also a significant topic of concern for society, families, and the media. From a societal perspective, the employment of university students is directly related to the success or failure of China's education system reform and also impacts social harmony and development. From the students' perspective, employment issues are closely tied to their personal development, success, and realization of life values. From the perspective of universities, employment issues are connected to their own survival and development. It is evident that addressing the employment of college graduates is crucial for promoting the harmonious development of China's education sector. This paper explores the issue of difficult employment faced by Chinese college graduates and presents some strategies to address this issue.

Abstract:: Based on a national survey of 30 universities in eight Chinese provinces in 2011, this empirical study shows that, despite government policies encouraging college graduates to work at the grassroots level, few students actually do so, due to concerns about their career prospects. Human capital, family, and school background and job search conditions are important factors affecting the grassroots employment of college graduates, and students willing to work at the grassroots level tend to be in a weaker position. This research also demonstrates that the occupational status, alignment of job and studies, starting salary, and job satisfaction of such graduates are relatively low.

Abstract:Challenged by the severe graduation employment dilemma, the employability and entrepreneurship for student has become a core concern in Chinese higher education. This paper firstly shows the impact on the job market from the social economic development and higher educational structure transformation of the country. Then the problems in the talents cultivation system in Chinese institutions of higher education: gap between graduates supplies and social demands, lack of training in core competitiveness, and lack of systematic operation.are discussed. As a practical example, Ningbo Institute of Technology (NIT) Zhejiang University, China is shown as enhancing students’ employability and entrepreneurship effectively. With fully awareness of the bottlenecks impeding the enhancement of students’ employability and entrepreneurship, NIT has reformed the pattern of talents cultivation to meet local industrial requirements, and built a comprehensive and long-run guidance system for enhancing employability and entrepreneurship, so as to coordinate the graduates supply with social needs. Some suggestions for Chinese higher education institutions to enhance students’ employability and entrepreneurship are put forward in this paper.

Abstract:In the summer of 2013, the number of Chinese university graduates who did not know where to go after graduation reached an unprecedented 2 million. These graduates are not illegible to claim any benefits from social insurance schemes that based on formal employment. When away from home, neither do they have access to other supplementary benefits based on household registration status (hukou) financed and provided by the local governments of host cities. To address the issue of massive unemployment among graduates, the Chinese government has introduced a range of policy measures with an emphasis on ‘flexible employment’, an umbrella for several types of atypical jobs, while leaving the basic structure of social protection intact. This study reviews the development of the Chinese graduate employment policy with emphasis on the changes in the forefront of massive unemployment among graduates. By evaluating the effectiveness of policy measures, this study argues for a thorough reform of the higher education system.

Abstract:Employment is the foundation of people's livelihood, and youth employment is the top priority in employment. It is another graduation season for college students. After graduation, college students choose between "employment" and "continue further study". The employment of college students has always been a hot issue of social concern. In 2022, Chinese college graduates broke through the 10 million mark for the first time, setting a new record high. According to the current employment situation of college students, taking college students in Shandong, China as an example, this paper analyzes the main problems in the graduation planning and employment of college students, and puts forward countermeasures to improve the employment rate of college students from different levels. In order to alleviate the employment anxiety of college students, carry out employment guidance in colleges and universities, and establish the correct employment concept of college students. Abstract:This study critically examines the multifaceted employment challenges faced by normal university graduates in China, particularly those specializing in teacher training, against the backdrop of the country's rapidly evolving knowledge economy. Focusing on the unique context of frontier ethnic minority regions, the research highlights the adverse effects of an oversupply of teacher graduates and the contraction of the private education market due to the "double reduction" policy. Through a comprehensive analysis of employment data from a frontier ethnic minority university, the study reveals significant disparities between the supply of teacher graduates and the actual demand within the educational system, compounded by structural challenges such as excessive program capacity and misallocation of governmental resources. Furthermore, the investigation delves into the implications of societal perceptions of teaching as a profession, emphasizing the need for a paradigm shift toward valuing professional growth and innovation in education. The findings underscore the importance of aligning teacher training programs with the dynamic demands of the knowledge economy, fostering professional development, and promoting inclusivity and diversity in educational opportunities. By advocating for a holistic approach to addressing the employment challenges of normal university students, this research contributes valuable insights into the development of policy interventions to enhance graduates' employability and professional advancement in the knowledge economy.

Abstract:Based on the investigation and analysis of the employment psychological status of college graduates in China, this paper puts forward some measures and suggestions to alleviate the severe employment pressure. At the same time, it also provides the theoretical basis and reference materials for related researchers. In recent years, recruiting units have paid more and more attention to the relationship between graduates and employers and the roles played by both parties. It is found that the imbalance between supply and demand in China's labor market is the main factor affecting students' participation in civil service examinations, teachers' academic qualifications and degree certificate system reform. Among them, the employment and working environment of graduates are more influential, while for employers, the biggest impact is the gap between the positions provided by enterprises and social needs.
