Abstract:Pesticide is one of the indispensability materials in modern agricultural management, however the excessive use of pesticides has threatened the ecological environment and people's health. This paper introduced an optical instrument to test the pesticide residues in agricultural products based on the inhibition rate of organophosphates against acrtyl-cholinesterase (AchE). The instrument consists mainly of a solid light source with 410nm wavelength, a sampling container, an optical sensor, a temperature sensor, and a MCU based data acquisition board. The light illuminated through the liquid in the sampling container, and the absorptivity was determined by the amount of the pesticide residues in the liquid. This paper involves the design of optical testing system, the data acquisition and calibration of the optical sensor, the design of microcontroller-based electrical board. Tests were done to reveal the affection of temperature and reacting time on AchE, to establish the relationship between the amount of methamidophos and dichlorvos with AchE. The results showed that the absorption rate was related to the pesticide residues and it could be concluded that the pesticide residues exceeded the normal level when the inhibition rate was over 50 percent. The instrument has potential application in vegetable markets.

Abstract:Pesticides are indispensably essential in agricultural practices. Traditional pesticides and environmentally friendly pesticides both are used to control the damage caused by pests and diseases. Conventional procedures were carried out to detect pesticide residues using chromatography and spectrophotometric techniques. Inno-vative extractions (micro-extraction) and detection technologies (biosensors, screening cards, etc.) have been developed for faster and more efficient screening of pesticide compounds in plant-derived foodstuffs. The present review summarized the trends of pesticide occurrence in plant-derived foodstuffs, and discussed the advances in pesticides detection. Also, the pesticide dissipation and the mechanism of action are discussed. The extensive literature review demonstrates various techniques already in use or having futuristic potential for detecting and dissipating pesticides in foodstuffs, which can pave the way for future research efforts.

Abstract:For the immense requirement on agriculture and animal husbandry, application of pesticides and veterinary drugs had become a normal state in the farming and ranching areas. However, to intently pursue the yields, large quantities of residues of pesticides and veterinary drugs have caused serious harm to both the environment and the food industry. To control and solve such an issue, a variety of novel techniques were developed in recent years. In this review, the development and features about point-of-care-testing (POCT) detection on the residues of pesticides and veterinary drugs, such as, electrochemistry (EC), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and nano-techniques, were systematically introduced. For each topic, we first interpreted the strategies and detailed account of such technical contributions on detection and assessment of the residues. Finally, the advantages and perspectives about mentioned techniques for ultrasensitive assessment and sensing on pesticides and veterinary drugs were summarized.

Abstract:The excessive use or abuse of pesticides and veterinary drugs leads to residues in food, which can threaten human health. Therefore, there is an extremely urgent need for multi-analyte analysis techniques for the detection of pesticide and veterinary drug residues, which can be applied as screening techniques for food safety monitoring and detection. Recent developments related to rapid multi-residue detection methods for pesticide and veterinary drug residues are reviewed herein. Methods based on different recognition elements or the inherent characteristics of pesticides and veterinary drugs are described in detail. The preparation and application of three broadly specific recognition elements—antibodies, aptamers, and molecular imprinted polymers—are summarized. Furthermore, enzymatic inhibition-based sensors, near-infrared spectroscopy, and SERS spectroscopy based on the inherent characteristics are also discussed. The aim of this review is to provide a useful reference for the further development of rapid multi-analyte analysis of pesticide and veterinary drug residues.

Abstract:Abstract China is a large agricultural country, and the long-term use of pesticides in the development of agriculture has a certain toxic effect on human health and safety, which may cause cancer, teratogenicity, mutagenicity and other related symptoms. Technical analysis of pesticide residue monitoring is an important method to protect food safety, and the analytical technology of pesticide residue in agricultural products in china has made substantial progress. In this paper, the research progress of modern pesticide residue pretreatment technology and detection technology were described, as well as the development trend of pesticide residue detection technology. On this basis, the application of ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC/MS-MS) technology was proposed to establish a highly sensitive and rapid method for the simultaneous detection of eight kinds of pesticide residues in agricultural products. In order to provide reference for the in-depth study of pesticide residues.

Abstract:Detection of pesticide residues was a crucial for food safety. Generally, chromatography (gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, chromatography-mass spectroscopy, etc.) was used for the detection of pesticide residues. However, these methods required expensive, large-scale and sophisticated instruments. To overcome the limits of chromatography, series of detection methods have been developed for the rapid, real-time and on-site determination of pesticide residues. In this review, rapid detection methods of pesticide residues, including biosensor (enzyme biosensor, immunosensor, aptamer sensor, whole-cell biosensor), spectroscopy (near infrared spectroscopy, terahertz spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, etc.), microfluidics and direct mass spectroscopy, and their principles, characteristic and recent advances have been summarized. Problems to be solved in the rapid detection of pesticide residues and future prospective have also been analyzed.

Abstract:Antibiotics are widely utilized in agriculture for the prevention and treatment of animal diseases. How-ever, the abuse and overuse of antibiotics progressively increase the risks of antibiotic residues and antibiotic resis-tance. The bioaccumulation and biomagnification of antibiotics through food chains will negatively affect ecological safety, and finally threaten human health. There are many shortages of traditional antibiotic detection techniques, such as complex procedures, complicated operation and time consuming, and thus are difficult to meet the demand of instant, efficient and accurate on-site detection. Therefore, it is crucial to develop rapid detection techniques of antibiotics to manage the application of antibiotics in agriculture. We reviewed the utilization, and management of antibiotics in animal husbandry, residual characteristics, and potential hazards of antibiotics in agricultural products, summarized the advancements in rapid detection techniques of antibiotics in agricultural products over the past five years, compared the advantages and disadvantages of different rapid detection techniques, and prospected the future development in this area. This review would provide a valuable reference to the control and point-of-care test of antibiotics in agricultural products.

Abstract:Veterinary drug residues in foods pose risks to consumers and promote antimicrobial resistance. Effective detection methods are needed to monitor and control residues. Recent advancements in analytical techniques for veterinary drug residue detection were reviewed. Key sample preparation methods, including QuEChERS, SPE, ASE, and LLE, were summarized. Instrumental analysis techniques including LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, immunoassays, CE and biosensors were examined. Recent trends and future directions were identified. LC-MS/MS and GC-MS provide the highest sensitivity and specificity for veterinary drug residue analysis. However, selectivity remains a challenge, particularly for complex matrices like meat and liver. Multi-residue methods now cover over 100 analytes, but analyzing new and legacy drugs lacking established methods is difficult. Increased sensitivity has been achieved through UHPLC and high resolution MS, but detection limits below 1 mu g/kg often remain elusive. sSimplified on site tests are gaining interest. More selective extraction strategies, data-driven multi-residue methods, microflow LC, and integrated analytical platforms may help address current challenges. Continued advances in sample preparation, instrumentation, data processing, and validation will be needed to fully realize the potential of veterinary drug residue detection and ensure food safety.

Abstract:As one of the largest agricultural country, China witnesses the critical role pesticides play in modern agriculture. Although the large-scale application of pesticides such as oganophosphorus benefits a great deal to agricultural production, it also causes serious problems in respect of environment and food safety. Therefore, the study on fast detection methods and techniques for pesticide has been an important research fo-cus in recent years. In this review, advances on the study of fast detection methods and techniques for ogano-phosphorus pesticide have been summarized with emphasis on the development of biological sensors, optical sensors and chemical sensors. Besides, limitations as well as possible research tendency have been dis-cussed, which might provide practical guidance for future food safety monitoring and assessment.

Abstract:According to analysis and comparison of internal and overseas actuality of the pesticides residue detection, the techniques of rapid detection of pesticides residue are described and reviewed in this paper. The technical methodologies, which have been well developed and be of practical applications, such as chemiluminescence determination, enzyme inhibition, enzyme-linked immunoassay and sensor, are introduced and evaluated in detail. The principles, characteristics and application of these techniques including chemical chemiluminescence and biological chemiluminescence, enzyme inhibition, immunoassay containing ELISA, sensor especially biosensor and so on were discussed. The trends of these technical methodologies are also prospected. The exploitation of the chemiluminescence regents in chemiluminescence, the choice of the enzyme source and the commercialization of the apparatuses of the biosensor, and the improvement of stability, accuracy and repeatability of the enzyme inhibition and immunoassay should be the potential important fields in relative researches.

Abstract:In recent years, the issues about the quality and safety of agricultural products and livestock have occurred frequently. As a source of security problems, the residues of pesticides and veterinary drug had caused serious threat on environment and human’s health. It was focused on developing a fast, simple and inexpensive method to detect the residues of pesticides and veterinary drug in recent years. Quantum dots (QDs) is made into a new fluorescent probes with excellent optical characteristics compared with the conventional organic fluorochrome. The detection techniques and researches based on QDs became more and more mature. The optical features of QDs were reviewed briefly in this paper. Its application and analysis on detecting the residues of pesticides and veterinary drug were introduced in detail. Additionally, the prospects of development were discussed.

Abstract:The domains of cancer therapy, disease prevention, and health care greatly benefit from the use of herbal medicine. Herbal medicine has become the mainstay of developing characteristic agriculture in the planting area increasing year by year. One of the most significant factors in affecting the quality of herbal medicines is the pesticide residue problem caused by pesticide abuse during the cultivation of herbal medicines. It is urgent to solve the problem of detecting pesticide residues in herbal medicines efficiently and rapidly. In this review, we provide a comprehensive description of the various methods used for pesticide residue testing, including optical detection, the enzyme inhibition rate method, molecular detection methods, enzyme immunoassays, lateral immunochromatographic, nanoparticle-based detection methods, colorimetric immunosensor, chemiluminescence immunosensor, smartphone-based immunosensor, etc. On this basis, we systematically analyze the mechanisms and some of the findings of the above detection strategies and discuss the challenges and prospects associated with the development of pesticide residue detection tools.
