Abstract:In recent years the issue of supply chain risk has been pushed to the fore. Widespread disruptions caused by a variety of supply chain risk sources have underlined the vulnerability of modem supply chains. Supply chain risks can become full-fledged supply chain problems, causing unanticipated changes in flow due to disruptions or delays. This paper seeks to provide practitioners and academicians a starting point for understanding supply chain risks and insights as to how supply chain risks can be managed. To that end the authors go on to clarify the concept of supply chain risk management and to provide a working definition. Next, it describes three categories of risk sources in supply chains: environmental risk sources, intra-organizational risk sources and inter-organizational risk sources. Finally, the research analyzes supply chain risk/reward trade-offs and presents risk-mitigating strategies for the supply chain.

Abstract:The purpose of this chapter is to investigate recent research developments in supply chain risk management (SCRM) and to provide a comprehensive outline for researchers and practitioners who are trying to identify the existing state of research in the SCRM area. The importance of a literature review is to enhance the understanding of researchers by cataloging previous research in an area and clarifying the strengths and weaknesses of existing studies and what they might mean. Since the number of studies on SCRM has increased dramatically, several review papers of existing papers have been published. By finding significant number of review papers in the area, we convinced about the necessity of including summary of review papers. Therefore, we first summarize previous SCRM review papers. Second, we review recent papers that have not been mentioned in these review papers. Third, we develop a framework by which to categorize these papers. We conclude by presenting the observed pattern of SCRM research.

Abstract:Through considering the definition,structural properties and stability of supply chains,the paper proposes an approach to supply chain risk management based on systems analysis method,which includes the supply chain risk classification based on multi-angle analysis,the enterprise activity inspection based on cause-effect analysis and the supply chain risk response system based on flowchart method and qualitative hierachical analysis,etc.It is hoped that the application of these systems analysis methods in SCM would improve that stability of supply chain systems and enable them to effectively avoid damage from possible risk exposure.

Abstract:This paper presents a systematic review of the literature on Supply Chain Risk (SCR) research, focusing on content-based analysis. The study comprehensively examines the general factors associated with key themes and trends in supply chain risk management, encompassing the identification and assessment of risks, risk mitigation strategies, and the influence of emerging technologies on Supply Chain Risk Management (SCRM). The review provides an overview of current and emerging topics in SCRM, while also introducing categorization frameworks to address research gaps and provide a roadmap for future studies, thereby generating valuable insights in this field. The review highlights the significance of effective SCRM in ensuring business continuity and resilience, emphasizing the need for organizations to adopt a proactive approach to risk management. The paper concludes by identifying areas for future research, including the development of novel risk management frameworks and the integration of emerging technologies into supply chain risk management practices. Additionally, a comprehensive evaluation of each classification is presented, highlighting overlooked aspects and unexplored domains, and offering recommendations for potential next steps in SCRM research.

Abstract:Risk management plays a vital role in effectively operating supply chains in the presence of a variety of uncertainties. Over the years, many researchers have focused on supply chain risk management (SCRM) by contributing in the areas of defining, operationalising and mitigating risks. In this paper, we review and synthesise the extant literature in SCRM in the past decade in a comprehensive manner. The purpose of this paper is threefold. First, we present and categorise SCRM research appearing between 2003 and 2013. Second, we undertake a detailed review associated with research developments in supply chain risk definitions, risk types, risk factors and risk management/mitigation strategies. Third, we analyse the SCRM literature in exploring potential gaps.

Abstract:Purpose The purpose of this paper is to review the extant literature on supply chain risk management (SCRM, including risk identification, assessment, treatment, and monitoring), developing a comprehensive definition and conceptual framework; to evaluate prior theory use; and to identify future research directions. Design/methodology/approach A systematic literature review of 354 articles (published 2000-2016) based on descriptive, thematic, and content analysis. Findings There has been a considerable focus on identifying risk types and proposing risk mitigation strategies. Research has emphasised organisational responses to supply chain risks and made only limited use of theory. Ten key future research directions are identified. Research limitations/implications A broad, contemporary understanding of SCRM is provided; and a new, comprehensive definition is presented covering the process, pathway, and objectives of SCRM, leading to a conceptual framework. The research agenda guides future work towards maturation of the discipline. Practical implications Managers are encouraged to adopt a holistic approach to SCRM. Guidance is provided on how to select appropriate risk treatment actions according to the probability and impact of a risk. Originality/value The first review to consider theory use in SCRM research and to use four SCRM stages to structure the review.

Abstract:Purpose This paper examines supply chain risk management (SCRM) from a holistic systems thinking perspective by considering the different typologies that have evolved as a result of earlier research. The purpose of this paper is to identify important strategic changes in the field and to outline future requirements and research opportunities in SCRM. Design/methodology/approach The systematic literature review (SLR) methodology employed by this research was used to evaluate and categorise a literature survey of quality articles published over a period of ten years (2000‐2010). Additionally, the findings from the SLR have been strengthened through cross validation against results obtained from an associated text mining activity. Findings The SLR methodology has provided a rich, unbiased and holistic picture of the advances in the field of SCRM. Consequently, important new research areas have been identified based on a multi‐perspective descriptive and thematic data analysis. In addition, the analysis, based on evolved typologies, indicates a growth of SCRM from a nascent to a fairly established activity over the past decade. Practical implications The systematic approach undertaken for the literature review will provide future researchers and managers with an insightful understanding of the scope of the SCRM field. Also, the literature review provides important clues on new research directions for SCRM through identification of gaps in current knowledge. Originality/value The holistic approach to SCRM was found to be an important missing link in earlier literature surveys. The outcome of the SLR reported in this paper has provided critical insights into the present and future scope of the SCRM field. The identified research insights, gaps and future directions will encourage new research techniques, with a view to managing the risks in the globalized supply chain environment.

Abstract:This study aims to investigate the antecedent of supply chain transparency (SCT) and its impact on mitigating supply chain risk (SCRISK) and enhancing supply chain resilience (SCR). Furthermore, this study seeks to examine the moderating effect of supply chain integration (SCI) on the relationship between SCT and SCRISK, as well as SCT and SCR. Utilizing hierarchical regression on survey data from 332 Chinese companies, the results have revealed that SCI had a significant positive effect on SCT, which further leads to decreased SCRISK and increased SCR. Meanwhile, SCI negatively moderates the relationship between SCT and SCRISK but has no moderating effect on the relationship between SCT and SCR. By examining the critical role of SCT, the research opens the black box of the relationship between SCI and supply chain risk and resilience management and provides insights into how firms can establish and utilize SCT more effectively.

Abstract:Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a comprehensive and coherent approach for managing risks in supply chains. Design/methodology/approach Building on Tummala et al. 's Risk Management Process (RMP), this paper develops a structured and ready‐to‐use approach for managers to assess and manage risks in supply chains. Findings Supply chain risks can be managed more effectively when applying the Supply Chain Risk Management Process (SCRMP). The structured approach can be divided into the phases of risk identification, risk measurement and risk assessment; risk evaluation, and risk mitigation and contingency plans; and risk control and monitoring via data management systems. Specific techniques for conducting this process are suggested. Originality/value While supply chain risk management is an emerging and important topic in our dynamic and interconnected world, conceptual frameworks providing a clear meaning and normative guidance are scarce (Manuj and Mentzer, 2008). This paper presents such a framework, offering structure and decision support for managers.

Abstract:Supply chain risk management (SCRM) is a nascent area emerging from a growing appreciation for supply chain risk by practitioners and by researchers. However, there is diverse perception of research in supply chain risk because these researchers have approached this area from different domains. This paper presents our study of this diversity from the perspectives of operations and supply chain management scholars: First, we reviewed the researchers' output, i.e., the recent research literature. Next, we surveyed two focus groups (members of Supply Chain Thought Leaders and International SCRM groups) with open‐ended questions. Finally, we surveyed operations and supply chain management researchers during the 2009 INFORMS meeting in San Diego. Our findings characterize the diversity in terms of three “gaps”: a definition gap in how researchers define SCRM, a process gap in terms of inadequate coverage of response to risk incidents, and a methodology gap in terms of inadequate use of empirical methods. We also list ways to close these gaps as suggested by the researchers.

Abstract:The management of supply chain is the key process in enterprise developing; How to identify the risk of the supply chain and evaluate the affection of risk factors is very important. The identification of current situation of supply chain is briefly described at the beginning of this article, the SCOR model is introduced afterwards, and the index in predicting the risk of supply chain is also provided, the system for evaluating the risk of supply-chain is made up by 8 key risk factors and 36 sub-factors. Finally the fuzzy comprehensive method is used in settling down the problem about weigh distribution of risk index of supply chain. ©2010 IEEE.

Abstract:This paper conducts an in-depth systematic literature review of 86 peer-reviewed academic journal articles on supply chain risk management (SCRM) strategies from 2000 to mid-2015. The findings indicate a variety of dispersed supply chain risk (SCR) mitigating strategies and suggest a more homogeneous use of terminology. Moreover, the analysis also reveals insufficient evidence for the effect of SCRM on performance. The current study groups and synthesises the various SCRM strategies into proactive and reactive approaches for the ante and the post disruption state and classifies them according to the different supply chain types. Altogether the findings provide essential practical and theoretical contributions to strategic responses to adverse incidents by creating a unique conceptual framework of SCRM strategies and providing direction towards promising areas of research.

Abstract:The global spread of COVID-19, international trade protectionism, geopolitical conflicts, and climate change presents challenges and risks to sustainable supply chains (SSCs). In recent years, scholarly interest in sustainable supply chain risk management (SSCRM) has continued to rise. A helpful literature review is necessary to enable supply chain practitioners to apply empirical findings from academic research or conceptual frameworks to their operations to maintain the stability and competitiveness of sustainable supply chains. The knowledge map of SSCRM is explored in this study using both quantitative and qualitative analysis. A total of 793 articles were retrieved to reveal the knowledge map of SSCRM. Scientometric and context analysis are combined in quantitative analysis to identify the intellectual structure of risk management research related to SSC. Then, a critical review is conducted in qualitative analysis to summarize and analyze the motivations, strategies, approaches, and tools of SSCRM. Combining the quantitative and qualitative analysis results, a conceptual model is constructed for SSCRM from three aspects: (1) risk identification, (2) risk assessment, and (3) risk mitigating and responding. Finally, future research directions are suggested based on the conceptual model for guiding the theories and practice of SSCRM. This study can work as a roadmap for providing appropriate risk management policies and toolkits to SSC, which could advance theoretical thinking on how to mitigate SSC risks.

Abstract:Supply chain versus supply chain is becoming the domain competition format instead of single enterprise as the result of changing environment. The enterprise must understand where the risk comes from and how to avoid it when the supply chain is running. So each cooperating enterprise can benefit. The risk faced by the supply chain is categorized into performance risk and relational risk from an inter-organization perspective. Relational risk refers to cooperation among supply chain nodes, while performance risk refers to the danger without achieving the performance objectives of supply chain, given cooperation. Strengthening the information sharing among cooperation enterprises, simplifying the supply chain, establishing reasonable benefit assigning mechanism and making the supply chain flexible are effective means.
