Abstract:Hypothalamic hamartomas mostly present in childhood are rare congenital malformations with the usual presentation of gelastic seizure,precocious puberty and/or development delay.The relative roles of surgical resection,endoscopy and radiosurgery in the management of patients with such lesions have remained controversial.All the literature about treatment and prognosis in the past ten years were reviewed.Resection or disconnection of hypothalamic hamartomas via surgical and/or endoscopy approaches were found have efficacy in the treatment.The clinical outcomes and treatment options including surgery,endoscopy and radiosurgery were discussed.
