Abstract:Digital media are getting wider popularity, their security-related issues become more greater concerned. In this paper, we propose a new steganography scheme based on information hiding security technique for hiding one piece of secret speech information data into another piece of public (host) speech information data. The object of our proposed work is to design an effective and practical device, Speech information hiding telephone (SIHT), it allows two communication parts keep high safety and security during speech communication over Public switching telephone network (PSTN) with eavesdropper wiretapping. SITH is different from Traditional encryption telephone (TET) in the signal being transferred over PSTN. The signal of SIHT is speech, which is meaningful, continuous, and understandable. The signal of TET is encrypted data, which is noise to an eavesdropper. Therefore, SIHT is a more secure speech communication system for protecting the secret message from wire tapping and breaking than TET. SIHT is designed based on embedding system method in the architecture of DSP parallel processing, using one fixed point DSP TMS320C54, several floating DSP TMS320C31 and a single-chip microprocessor Intel 80196 for processing speech encoding, decoding, encrypting, de-encrypting, data hiding, data extracting, and bus arbitrary controlling, etc. individually. SIHT has been tested with China PSTN, communication at 33.6kbps was achieved in more than 94% of the trials, with an excellent speech quality.
