Abstract:Collective excitations (spin waves) of long-lived atomic hyperfine states can be synthesized into a Bose-Hubbard model in momentum space. We explore many-body ground states and dynamics of a two-leg momentum-space lattice formed by two coupled hyperfine states. Essential ingredients of this setting are a staggered artificial magnetic field engineered by lasers that couple the spin wave states and a state-dependent long-range interaction, which is induced by laser dressing a hyperfine state to a Rydberg state. The Rydberg dressed two-body interaction gives rise to a state-dependent blockade in momentum space and can amplify staggered flux-induced antichiral edge currents in the many-body ground state in the presence of magnetic flux. When the Rydberg dressing is applied to both hyperfine states, exotic sliding insulating and superfluid (supersolid) phases emerge. Because of the Rydberg dressed long-range interaction, spin waves slide along a leg of the momentum-space lattice without costing energy. Our study paves a route to the quantum simulation of topological phases and exotic dynamics with interacting spin waves of atomic hyperfine states in momentum-space lattice.

Abstract:A d-wave holographic superconductor in the presence of a constant magnetic field is studied by the perturbation method. We obtain both droplet and triangular vortex lattice solutions. The results are the same as that of an s-wave holographic superconductor. The non-Abelian holographic superconductor with p + ip-wave background in the presence of a magnetic field is also studied. Unlike the d-wave and s-wave models, it is found that the non-Abelian model has only a droplet solution.

Abstract:It is well known theoretically and experimentally that spin waves can be excited by current in magnetic trilayer and multilayer structures where the current is spin polarized by one of the magnetizations and interacts with the others. However, it has also been observed experimentally that a nonpolarized dc current flowing through a point contact into a single ferromagnetic thin film can induce spin waves. We investigate this phenomenon using a model in which the spins of the conduction electrons interact with a nonuniform magnetization and the current is treated perturbatively. To a first-order approximation, the spin-wave modes excited by the injected current have been characterized and the relationship between the dynamic properties of the spin waves and the applied current and applied magnetic field has been established. Calculated results are then used for comparison with the experimental observations.

Abstract:Dynamics for localized spin-wave packets (localized magnons) are studied in a two-component ultra-cold atom system trapped in one-dimensional optical lattices. The centre of the Gaussian wave packet produced in a ferromagnetic chain shows Bloch oscillations under an additional transverse gradient magnetic field, which can be applied to measure the many-body superexchange interaction between the nearest-neighbour atoms.
Spin-resonant Splitting in Magnetically Modulated Semimagnetic Semiconductor Superlattices

Abstract:We investigate spin-resonant splitting in magnetically modulated semimagnetic semiconductor superlattices by adopting tight-binding model and Green's function method under the influence of an external electric field. Spin-dependent resonant splitting features for both the transmission spectra and the current density spectra are discussed in more detail. Under no influence of the external electric field, the periodic nature of the spin superlattice leads to a regular profile of quantization in the transmission, which is composed of spin-dependent resonant bands separated by nonresonant gaps, where the resonant splitting rule of the transmission for spin-up case is exactly the same as that for spin-down case. The transmission resonances are drastically suppressed by the external electric field, the difference between resonant bands and nonresonant gaps is lessened and the transmission spectra are smoothed out. It is shown that splitting of the current density is more complex. In contrast with the transmission, the number of oscillations in the current density spectra has no simple direct correspondence to the number of unit cells and cannot be summarized in the simple rule.

Abstract:Surface magnetic polaritons and spin waves are examined in a unified framework for a promising kind of anisotropic FM/NM superlattices. Two types of the surface modes are classified, the coupled lower- surface modes and coupled standing waves. The modulation property of both the spectra and the envelop functions are discussed.

Abstract:We investigated the ballistic transport of two-dimensional electrons subjected to a periodically modulated magnetic field in the presence of the spin-orbit coupling of both the Rashba and the Dresselhaus types. It is shown that the spin splitting leads to additional gaps in the band structure and a series of minima in the transmission probability. The boundaries of the superlattice cause a finite spin polarization which can be tuned by the magnetic field, the electronic energy, and the superlattice period. The potential of such magnetic modulated structures as spin filters is discussed.

Abstract:Multiferroics with coplanar magnetic order are discussed in terms of a superfluid condensate, with special emphasis on spin supercurrents created by phase gradients of the condensate and the effect of external electric fields. By drawing the analogy to a superconducting condensate, phenomena such as persistent currents in rings, the Little-Parks effect, fluxoid quantization, the Josephson-like effect through spin domain walls, and interference behavior in a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID)-like geometry are analyzed for coplanar multiferroics.

Abstract:We employ the Einstein-Abelian-Higgs theory to investigate the structure of vortex-antivortex lattices within a superconductor driven by spatial periodic magnetic fields. By adjusting the parameters of the external magnetic field, including the period ($\mathcal{T}$) and the amplitude ($B_0$), various distinct vortex states emerge. These states encompass the Wigner crystallization state, the vortex cluster state, and the suppressed state. Additionally, we present a comprehensive phase diagram to demarcate the specific regions where these structures emerge, contributing to our understanding of superconductivity in complex magnetic environments.

Abstract:Long-wavelength spin waves in disordered magnetic systems have been investigated. In the framework of the Heisenberg model with magnetic dipole and exchange interactions between spins it is found that an additional longitudinal spin wave mode appears. This mode is characterized by variations of the value of the magnetic moment density. In order to analyse influence of the magnetic disorder on spin wave dispersion relations, the special case of volume and surface spin waves in the Damon-Eshbach (DE) geometry in films with magnetic disorder is considered. It is revealed strong influence of the magnetic disorder on surface spin waves, which consist of two branches -- the DE mode and the longitudinal spin wave mode. Decrease of the ordering parameters leads to a decrease of the initial frequency and the curve slope of the DE mode dispersion curve and to an increase of the dispersion curve slope of the longitudinal mode. If the spin noncollinearity is high, then the DE mode dispersion assumes a curve with the backward character. It is found that the dispersion relation of the longitudinal mode is weak temperature dependent. The developed model can explain the observed double-peak structure of FMR spectra in magnetic nanocomposites.

Abstract:The spin-wave excitations in anisotropic Kondo lattice model are studied using the spin Green's function. Both the ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic cases are considered. The equations to determine the spectrum of low-energy excitations are given. The anisotropy gaps are obtained, and the long-wavelength and strong-coupling limits are analyzed.

Abstract:We investigate the spin excitation spectra in chiral and polar magnets by the linear spin-wave theory for an effective spin model with symmetric and antisymmetric long-range interactions. In one dimension, we obtain the analytic form of the dynamical spin structure factor for proper-screw and cycloidal helical spin states with uniform twists, which shows a gapless mode with strong intensity at the helical wave number. When introducing spin anisotropy in the symmetric interactions, we numerically show that the stable spin spirals become elliptically anisotropic with nonuniform twists and the spin excitation is gapped. In higher dimensions, we find that similar anisotropy stabilizes multiple-$Q$ spin states, such as vortex crystals and hedgehog lattices. We show that the anisotropy in these states manifests itself in the dynamical spin structure factor: a strong intensity in the transverse components to the wave number appears only when the helical wave vector and the corresponding easy axis are perpendicular to each other. Our findings could be useful not only to identify the spin structure but also to deduce the stabilization mechanism by inelastic neutron scattering measurements.

Abstract:Longitudinal spin transport in diluted magnetic semiconductor superlattices is investigated theoretically. The longitudinal magnetoconductivity (MC) in such systems exhibits an oscillating behavior as function of an external magnetic field. In the weak magnetic-field region the giant Zeeman splitting plays a dominant role that leads to a large negative magnetoconductivity. In the strong magnetic-field region the MC exhibits deep dips with increasing magnetic field. The oscillating behavior is attributed to the interplay between the discrete Landau levels and the Fermi surface. The decrease of the MC at low magnetic field is caused by the s-d exchange interaction between the electron in the conduction band and the magnetic ions. The spin polarization increases rapidly with increasing magnetic field and the longitudinal current becomes spin polarized in strong magnetic field. The effect of spin-disorder scattering on MC is estimated numerically for low magnetic fields and found to be neglectible for our system.

Abstract:We investigate magnetic properties in the superfluid and Mott-insulating states of two-component bosons with spin-orbit (SO) coupling in two-dimensional square optical lattices. The spin-independent hopping integral t and SO coupled one lambda are fitted from band-structure calculations in the continuum, which exhibit oscillations with increasing SO coupling strength. The magnetic superexchange model is derived in the Mott-insulating state with one particle per site, characterized by the Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya interaction. In the limit of |lambda| << |t|, we find a spin spiral Mott state whose pitch value is the same as that in the incommensurate superfluid state, while in the opposite limit |t| << |lambda|, the ground state exhibits a 2 x 2 in-plane spin pattern.

Abstract:The resonance splitting and wave-vector filtering for electron tunneling through magnetic superlattices are investigated theoretically. Two kinds of magnetic superlattices are examined. One is a periodic arrangement of identical magnetic barriers while the other is periodically juxtaposed with two different magnetic barriers. In general, one resonant domain in the former splits into two resonant domains in the latter. It is confirmed that both the resonance splitting and wave-vector filtering strongly depend on the structure of the magnetic superlattices. The numerical results indicate that the magnetic superlattice, which is a periodic arrangement of two different magnetic barriers, possesses stronger wave-vector filtering. Abstract:The magnetic excitations in quasi-periodic layered media composed of alternating magnetic and non-magnetic films are studied. The array of layers forms a Fibonacci sequence, so the Bloch theorem is inapplicable. The spectrum of spin waves is calculated by the transfer matrix method in rational approximation up to the tenth Fibonacci generation. A distinctive feature of the mini-band structure is found in these excitations.

Abstract:. The quantum interference effects induced by the Wess-Zumino term, or Berry phase are studied theoretically in resonant quantum coherence of the magnetization vector between degenerate states in nanometer-scale single-domain ferromagnets in the absence of an external magnetic field. We consider the magnetocrystalline anisotropy with trigonal, tetragonal and hexagonal crystal symmetry, respectively. By applying the periodic instanton method in the spin-coherent-state path integral, we evaluate the low-lying tunnel splittings between degenerate excited states of neighboring wells. And the low-lying energy level spectrum of m th excited state are obtained with the help of the Bloch theorem in one-dimensional periodic potential. The energy level spectrum and the thermodynamic properties of magnetic tunneling states are found to depend significantly on the total spins of ferromagnets at sufficiently low temperatures. Possible relevance to experiments is also discussed.

Abstract:Ultracold atoms with two hyperfine internal states in optical lattices are proposed to demonstrate a two-dimensional spin-1/2 model under a transverse effective staggered magnetic field. The transverse magnetic field is produced by a Raman process and can be modulated by the intensities of the additional light fields. This optical lattice protocol can investigate magnetic quantum phenomena induced by the effective staggered magnetic field in a wider parameter range with controllable interaction between the spins of the nearest-neighbor atoms.
