Abstract:Let bk(n) be positive integer(n=1,2,…),that is the k-th root part.The main purpose of this paper is to study the asymptotic properties of the sequence {bk(n)}.Using the elementary method,two interesting hybrid asymptotic formulas involving this sequence {bk(n)} and the generalized Mangoldt function are given.

Abstract:For finding a root of a function f , Müler’s method is a root-finding algorithm using three values of f in every step. The natural values available are values of f and values of its first number of derivatives, called standard information. Based on standard information, we construct an iteration method with maximal order of convergence. It is a natural generalization of Müller’s iteration method.

Abstract:In this note, we present a simple summation formula for $k$-bonacci numbers. The derivation consists in obtaining the generating function of such numbers, and noting that its evaluation at a particular value yields a formula generalizing a known expression for Fibonacci numbers.

Abstract:The article uses an arithmetic-geometric Fibonacci series to find the expected value of trials needed to observe k consecutive successes for the first time in a Bernoulli experiment using a recurrence relation. It is important to note that this is not a new result, but to the best of the authors' knowledge at the time of uploading, this is a novel derivation of a well-established result. The other derivations of this result are cited in the references section.

Abstract:Let k be a positive integer and p be a prime.We give some congruences involving the binomial coefficients((k+1)p-a)p-a),(kp-1p-a) with 1 ≤ a ≤ p-1 and （kp+p-1/2b±p-1/2±b),(kp-1p-1/2±b) with 0 ≤ b ≤ p-1/2.In particular,we get a generalization of Morley's congruence.Meanwhile,some congruences about the summation of ((k+1)p-ap-a) are obtained.
The Frobenius Formula for $A=(a,ha+d,ha+b_2d,...,ha+b_kd)$

Abstract:Given relative prime positive integers $A=(a_1, a_2, ..., a_n)$, the Frobenius number $g(A)$ is the largest integer not representable as a linear combination of the $a_i$'s with nonnegative integer coefficients. We find the ``Stable" property introduced for the square sequence $A=(a,a+1,a+2^2,\dots, a+k^2)$ naturally extends for $A(a)=(a,ha+dB)=(a,ha+d,ha+b_2d,...,ha+b_kd)$. This gives a parallel characterization of $g(A(a))$ as a ``congruence class function" modulo $b_k$ when $a$ is large enough. For orderly sequence $B=(1,b_2,\dots,b_k)$, we find good bound for $a$. In particular we calculate $g(a,ha+dB)$ for $B=(1,2,b,b+1)$, $B=(1,2,b,b+1,2b)$, $B=(1,b,2b-1)$ and $B=(1,2,...,k,K)$. Our idea also applies to the case $B=(b_1,b_2,...,b_k)$, $b_1> 1$.

Sums of powers of integers via differentiation

Abstract:For integer $k \geq 0$, let $S_k$ denote the sum of the $k$th powers of the first $n$ positive integers $1^k + 2^k + \cdots + n^k$. For any given $k$, the power sum $S_k$ can in principle be determined by differentiating $k$ times (with respect to $x$) the associated exponential generating function $\sum_{k=0}^{\infty}S_k x^k/k!$, and then taking the limit of the resulting differentiated function as $x$ approaches $0$. In this paper, we exploit this method to establish a couple of seemingly novel recurrence relations, one of them involving the even-indexed power sums $S_2, S_4,\ldots, S_{2k}$, and the other the odd-indexed power sums $S_{1}, S_3, \ldots, S_{2k-1}$, with both recurrence relations depending explicitly on the parameter $N = n + \frac{1}{2}$. From this, we obtain a determinantal formula of order $k$ which yields $S_{2k}$ [$S_{2k-1}$] in the Faulhaber form, that is, as an odd [even] polynomial in $N$. As a byproduct, we discover a new determinantal formula for the Bernoulli number $B_{2k}$. Furthermore, we show that $S_{2k}$ and $S_{2k-1}$ can be obtained by taking the corresponding higher order derivatives of the Chebyshev polynomials of the second kind.

Abstract:For any real-valued $k > 1$, we consider the tree rooted at 0, where each positive integer $n$ has parent $\lfloor\frac{n}{k}\rfloor$. The average number of children per node is $k$, thus this definition gives a natural way to extend $k$-ary trees to irrational $k$. We focus on the sequence $r_d$: the count of nodes at depth $d$. We first prove there exists some constant $\rho(k)$ such that $r_d \sim \rho(k)\cdot k^d$. We then study a family of values $k=\frac{a + \sqrt{a+4b}}{2}$, where we prove the sequence satisfies the exact recurrence $r_d = a\cdot r_{d-1} + b \cdot r_{d-2}$. This generalizes a special case when $k$ is the golden ratio and $r_d$ is the Fibonacci sequence.

Abstract:Let $\bar V_k (n)$ be the minimum average number of pairwise comparisons needed to find the k th largest of n numbers $(k \geqq 2)$, assuming that all $n!$ orderings are equally likely. D. W. Matula proved that, for some absolute constant c , $\bar V_k (n) - n \leqq ck\ln \ln n$ as $n \to \infty $. In the present paper, we show that there exists an absolute constant $c' > 0$ such that $\bar V_k (n) - n \geqq c'k\ln \ln n$ as $n \to \infty $, proving a conjecture of Matula.

Abstract:Let $j \ge1$, $k\ge 0$ be real numbers and $\varphi(n)$ be the Euler function. In this paper, we study the asymptotical behaviour of the summation function $$S_{j,k}(x):=\sum_{n\le x}\frac{\varphi\left ( \left [ \frac{x}{n} \right ]^{j} \right ) }{\left [ \frac{x}{n} \right ]^{k} } $$ as $x\to \infty $, where $\left [ \cdot \right ] $ is the integral part function. Our results combine and generalize the recent work of Zhai, Wu and Ma.

Abstract:Let ${\bf s} = (s_1, s_2, \ldots, s_n,\ldots)$ be a sequence of positive integers. An ${\bf s}$-inversion sequence of length $n$ is a sequence ${\bf e} = (e_1, e_2, \ldots, e_n)$ of nonnegative integers such that $0 \leq e_i < s_i$ for $1\leq i\leq n$. When $s_i=(i-1)k+1$ for any $i\geq 1$, we call the ${\bf s}$-inversion sequences the $k$-inversion sequences. In this paper, we provide a bijective proof that the ascent number over $k$-inversion sequences of length $n$ is equidistributed with a weighted variant of the ascent number of permutations of order $n$, which leads to an affirmative answer of a question of Savage (2016). A key ingredient of the proof is a bijection between $k$-inversion sequences of length $n$ and $2\times n$ arrays with particular restrictions. Moreover, we present a bijective proof of the fact that the ascent plateau number over $k$-Stirling permutations of order $n$ is equidistributed with the ascent number over $k$-inversion sequences of length $n$.

Abstract:In this work, we establish some characteristics for a sequence, Aα(n,k), including recurrence relations, generating function and inversion formula, etc. Based on the sequence, we derive, by means of the generating function approach, some transformation formulas concerning certain combinatorial numbers named after Lah, Stirling, harmonic, Cauchy and Catalan, as well as several closed finite sums. In addition, the relationship between Aα(n,k) and r-Whitney–Lah numbers is established, and some formulas for the r-Whitney–Lah numbers are obtained.

Abstract:We perform polylogarithmic reductions for several classes of infinite sums motivated by Z.-W. Sun's related works in 2022–2023. For certain choices of parameters, these series can be expressed by cyclotomic multiple zeta values of levels 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12. In particular, we obtain closed forms of the series ∑_k=0^∞x_0^k/(k+1)3kk and ∑_k=1^∞x_0^k/k^23kk for any x_0∈(-27/4,27/4).
