The Effect of Health Belief on Condom Use Behavior among Female Sex Workers in Low-grade Place

Abstract:Objectives To investigate the impact of health beliefs among condom use in female sex workers in low-grade places.Methods The questionnaire was designed based on the health belief model,then were used to investigate the FSWs in low-grade places in Wuhan and Suizhou using convenience sampling.Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the survey results.Results The R2 of the health belief model on condom use behavior was 0.4701;the overall impact coefficients of perceived susceptibility,perceived seriousness,perceived benefits,perceived barriers and self-efficacy on condom use behavior in female sex workers in low-grade places were: 0.14,0.18,0.37,0.58 and 0.10.Conclusions The health belief model can explain 47% of condom use behavior in female sex workers in low-grade places;the factors influence condom use among female sex workers in decreasing order;perceived barriers,perceived benefits,perceived seriousness,perceived susceptibility and self-efficacy.
