Abstract:A series of polysubstituted pyrroles were rapidly synthesized in moderate to good yields via catalyst-free one-pot three-component reaction of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with primary amines and nitrostyrenes by using liquid-assisted grinding. This protocol provides several advantages over the conventional chemical synthesis, such as simple work-up procedure, wide substrate scope, short reaction time, and environmental friendliness. Structures of polysubstituted pyrroles were confirmed by H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR, and ESI-MS studies.

Abstract:An alternative route has been developed for the construction of multisubstituted pyrrole derivatives from readily available, doubly activated cyclopropanes and anilines using an iron-mediated oxidation domino reaction (i.e., sequential ring-opening, cyclization, and dehydrogenation reactions). This reaction uses readily available reactants and is tolerant of a broad range of substrates, with the desired products being formed in good to excellent yields.

Abstract:An efficient and metal-free method for the synthesis of 3-aryl pyrido[1,2-a]indoles from aryne intermediates and 2-pyridinyl-substituted p-QMs was successfully developed under ambient conditions. The reaction offers a novel and practical protocol to access some diverse functional molecules in good to excellent yields. The proposed mechanism indicated that the reaction route proceeded via a formal [3 +2] cycloaddition step.

Abstract:[GRAPHICS] Photochromic pyrans, including [3H]naphtho[2,1-b]pyrans, [2H]naphtho[1,2-b]pyrans, indeno-fused naphtho[1,2-b]pyrans, and heteroannulated pyrans, were synthesized in excellent yields through a facile one-pot procedure by reaction of propargyl alcohol and naphthol or phenol derivatives in the presence of 5 mol % PPTS and 2 equiv of (MeO)(3)CH. Symmetrical and nonsymmetrical bispyrans can also be prepared using the protocol.

Abstract:4,6-Diarylpyrimidin-2(1 H)-ones were effectively synthesised by utilising chlorotrimethylsilane (TMSCI) as an efficient promoter in the cyclisation condensation of arylketones, substituted benzaldehydes and urea by a one-pot, three-component reaction under air in DMF/CH3CN. The clean, mild reaction conditions, operational simplicity and high yields were attractive features of the reaction which enables a facile preparative procedure for building the pyrimidine ring.

Abstract:A Pd-catalyzed annulative π-extension reaction of 1-arylpyrroles using 1,2-dihalobenzenes as the coupling partners was investigated. The higher reactivity of pyrrole C2−H bond compared to C−H bonds of the aryl unit of 1-arylpyrroles allows selective synthesis of pyrrolo[1,2-f]phenanthridines via successive palladium-catalyzed direct intermolecular followed by intramolecular direct arylation steps. From 1-bromo-2-iodobenzenes bearing substituents at C4- or C5-positions and ortho-, meta- or para-substituted 1-arylpyrroles, the access to pyrrolo[1,2-f]phenanthridines containing substituents at C5, C6, C7, C8, C10 and/or C11 positions is possible.

Abstract:A simple and facile approach to highly functionalized pyrimidone derivatives and indole fused pyrimidones has been developed. The synthesis of substituted pyrimidone derivatives in moderate to good yields involves [4+2] cycloaddition of 1,4-dipoles generated from α,β-unsarurated imines and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate (DMAD) with isocyanates as dipolarophiles. Furthermore, the pyrimidones resulted from 2-bromophenyl isocyanate could be transformed into various indole fused pyrimidones via intramolecular palladium-catalyzed Heck reaction under different conditions.

Abstract:An easy and efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of pyrazolo[1,5-c]quinazolines via one-pot two-step reactions of readily available substituted 1-(2-halophenyl)-3-akylprop-2-yn-1-ones, hydrazine hydrochloride and amidine hydrochlorides under mild conditions, and the corresponding pyrazolo[1,5-c]quinazolines were obtained in good to excellent yields.
