Abstract:Obejective:To study the effect of ER and PR protein expressions in the malignant transformation of ovarian endometriosis.Methods:Immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the ER and PR expression in endometriosis with malignant change(GroupⅠ,30 patients),atypical hyperplasia of ovarian ectopic endometrial glands(groupⅡ,15 patients)and endometriosis(group Ⅲ,30 patients).Results:The positive ER and PR protein expression rate of groupⅠwas apparently lower than groupⅡ(P<0.05) and group Ⅲ(P<0.01).There was no statistical significant difference between groupⅡ and group Ⅲ(P>0.05).The positive ER and PR protein expression rate in the endometriosis area was not aparrently different among three groups.In group Ⅰ,the positive ER and PR protein expression rate was higher in the endometriosis area than in malignant transformed and transitional area (P<0.01).However,their positive expression rate were not apparently different between malignant transformed area and transitional area.The positive PR protein expression rate was correlated with that of ER in malignant transformed area and transitional area of group Ⅰ(P<0.05).Conclusion: It is possible that the negative expression of ER and PR protein play an role in the malignant transformation of ovarian endometriosis,which loss sex steroid hormone dependency.
