Abstract:In this paper, it can be found that there is a type of integra-transformation which corresponds to a quantum mechanical fundamental commutative relation, with its integral kernel being 1/exp[2i(q-Q)(p-P)], here denotes Weyl ordering, and Q and P are the coordinate and the momentum operator, respectively. Such a transformation is responsible for the mutual-converting among three ordering rules(P-Q ordering, Q-P ordering and Weyl ordering). We also deduce the relationship between this kernel and the Wigner operator, and in this way a new approach for deriving Wigner function in quantum states is obtained.

Abstract:Based on the Schwinger Bose operator realization of angular momentum, we introduce the entangled state representation as well as the Wigner operator in such representation and then derive the Wigner quasiprobability function of spin coherent states. The properties of corresponding Wigner function in the phase space are discussed by numerical calculation. The results indicate that the spin coherent states based on Schwinger Bose operator realization actually show entanglement properties. © 2010 Chin.Phys.Soc.

Abstract:By extending the usual Wigner operator to the s-parameterized one, we find that in the process of the generalized Weyl quantization the s parameter plays the role of correlation between two quadratures Q and P. This can be exposed by comparing the normally ordered form of Omega(s) with the standard form of the Gaussian bivariate normal distribution of random variables in statistics. Three different expressions of Omega(s) and the quantization scheme with use of it are presented.

Abstract:By using the technique of integration within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators, we derive the normal-product form of the gauge-invariant Wigner operator of an electron in a uniform magnetic field and its expression in the newly constructed |λ> representation. The virtue of working in the |λ> representation lies in the fact that it is expressed in terms of the ladder operators Π±, K±(see Eq. (10)), thus the magnetic vector potential can naturally be included. On these bases we can easily obtain Wigner functions of some important electron states.

Abstract:We introduce a new method to calculate the Wigner function when its corresponding Husimi function is given. A new formula is derived for calculating conveniently the Wigner function in two-mode entangled state representation. As application, we derive Wigner functions of some quantum states, such as two-mode entangled state, the electron's two-mode squeezed canonical coherent state, and the electron's coordinate eigenstate.

Abstract:Using operators' Weyl ordering expansion formula (Hong-yi Fan,\emph{\}J. Phys. A 25 (1992) 3443) we find new two-fold integration transformation about the Wigner operator $\Delta(q',p')$ ($q$-number transform) in phase space quantum mechanics, \[ \iint_{-\infty}^\infty dp' dq'/\pi \Delta (q',p') e^{-2i(p-p') (q-q')} =\delta (p-P) \delta (q-Q), \] and its inverse \[\iint_{-\infty}^\infty dq dp \delta (p-P) \delta (q-Q) e^{2i(p-p') (q-q')}=\Delta (q',p'), \] where $Q,$ $P$ are the coordinate and momentum operators, respectively. We apply it to studying mutual converting formulas among $Q-P$ ordering, $P-Q$ ordering and Weyl ordering of operators. In this way, the contents of phase space quantum mechanics can be enriched.
Complex-valued Wigner entropy of a quantum state

Abstract:It is common knowledge that the Wigner function of a quantum state may admit negative values, so that it cannot be viewed as a genuine probability density. Here, we examine the difficulty in finding an entropy-like functional in phase space that extends to negative Wigner functions and then advocate the merits of defining a complex-valued entropy associated with any Wigner function. This quantity, which we call the complex Wigner entropy, is defined via the analytic continuation of Shannon's differential entropy of the Wigner function in the complex plane. We show that the complex Wigner entropy enjoys interesting properties, especially its real and imaginary parts are both invariant under Gaussian unitaries (displacements, rotations, and squeezing in phase space). Its real part is physically relevant when considering the evolution of the Wigner function under a Gaussian convolution, while its imaginary part is simply proportional to the negative volume of the Wigner function. Finally, we define the complex-valued Fisher information of any Wigner function, which is linked (via an extended de Bruijn's identity) to the time derivative of the complex Wigner entropy when the state undergoes Gaussian additive noise. Overall, it is anticipated that the complex plane yields a proper framework for analyzing the entropic properties of quasiprobability distributions in phase space.

Abstract:For a tripartite entangled system, based on the newly constructed tripartite Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen entangled state, we find the entangled state representation of the Wigner operator. The corresponding Wigner function then leads us to obtain the physical marginal distributions. We emphasize that, for an entangled-particle system, the physical meaning of the Wigner distribution function should lie in that its marginal distributions give the probability of finding the particles in an entangled way.

Abstract:As is well known, the evolution of quantum state can be replaced by its Wigner function's time evolution. The Wigner function of a quantum state is the same as the density matrix of a quantum state, because they both contain many messages, such as the probability distribution and phases. Thus, the important information about the quantum state in the evolution process can be obtained more quickly and effectively by studying the Wigner function of a quantum state. In this paper, based on the classical diffusion equation, the diffusion equation of the quantum state density operator is derived by using the P representation of the density operator. Furthermore, by introducing the Weyl ordering symbol of the quantum operator, the corresponding Weyl quantization scheme is given. In addition, the evolution equation of Wigner operator in diffusion channel is established by using another phase space representation of density operator-Wigner function, and the solution form of Wigner operator is given. In this paper, we derive the evolution law of Wigner operator in quantum diffusion channel for the first time, that is, the form of Wigner operator at any time in the evolution process. Based on this conclusion, the evolution of coherent states through quantum diffusion channels is discussed.

Abstract:Given a real-valued phase-space function, it is a nontrivial task to determine whether it corresponds to a Wigner distribution for a physically acceptable quantum state. This topic has been of fundamental interest for long, and in a modern application, it can be related to the problem of entanglement detection for multi-mode cases. In this paper, we present a hierarchy of complete conditions for a physically realizable Wigner distribution. Our derivation is based on the normally-ordered expansion, in terms of annihilation andcreation operators, of the quasi-density operator corresponding to the phase-space function in question. As a by-product, it is shown that the phase-space distributions with elliptical symmetry can be readily diagonalized in our representation, facilitating the test of physical realizability. We also illustrate how the current formulation can be connected to the detection of bipartite entanglement for continuous variables.

Abstract:Using the normally ordered Gaussian form of the Wigner operator we recapitulate the quantum phase space representation, we derive a new formula for searching for the classical correspondence of quantum mechanical operators; we also show that if there exists the eigenvector vertical bar q >(lambda,nu) of linear combination of the coordinate and momentum operator, (lambda Q + nu P), where lambda, nu are real numbers, and vertical bar q >(lambda nu) is complete, then the projector vertical bar q >(lambda,nu lambda,nu)< q vertical bar must be the Radon transform of Wigner operator. This approach seems concise and physical appealing.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the construction and analysis of the Wigner functions for noncommutative quantum mechanics, their marginal distributions and star-products, following a technique developed earlier, {\it viz\/,} using the unitary irreducible representations of the group $\g$, which is the three fold central extension of the abelian group of $\mathbb R^4$. These representations have been exhaustively studied in earlier papers. The group $\g$ is identified with the kinematical symmetry group of noncommutative quantum mechanics of a system with two degrees of freedom. The Wigner functions studied here reflect different levels of non-commutativity -- both the operators of position and those of momentum not commuting, the position operators not commuting and finally, the case of standard quantum mechanics, obeying the canonical commutation relations only.
