Investigation on the Setting of Professional Degree on Graduate Nursing Education

Abstract:Objective To investigate the needs for professional degree on the graduate nursing education in China,and develop the setting program and mentoring training program.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate all the teachers who were responsible for nursing education in the college(department) of nursing throughout the country.Results All the experts agreed to set professional degree on the graduate nursing education.The 80.6 percent of the experts thought that the name should bemaster of nursing specialist.As a result,90.3 percent of the experts thought that the setting objectives should improve the education of nursing personnel,train clinical nurse specialist,and promote the development of nursing profession;90.3 percent of the experts thought that training objective should cultivate high-level,application type, compound talents who were integrated developed on the moral,intellectual and physical aspects.Conclusions The setting of master of nursing specialist corresponds with the nursing professional development and the economic and social needs.The mentoring training program should be constantly improved and perfected on the basis of investigation during the practice.
