Clinical analysis of laparoscopic surgery for left-side benign and malignant colon tumors

Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical value of the laparoscopic surgery for left-side benign and malignant colon tumors.Methods The clinical data of 54 patients with benign and malignant colon tumors undergoing laparoscopic surgery during the period March,2008 to December 2009,were respectively analyzed.Results All patients underwent laparoscopic surgery successfully without any major intraoperative complications.The average operation time was 160 min.There were 8 cases with postoperative complications,including 6 cases with incision infection,1 with lymphatic leakage and 1 with sexual dysfunction.The average time of hospital stay was 9.5 days.All patients were followed up to the time of submitting this paper with no mortality.No case showed signs of incision tumor implantation,local recurrence and distant metastasis.Conclusions Laparoscopic surgery for left-side colon tumors is a feasible,safe and reliable operation.
