Congenital Quadricuspid Aortic Valve Deformity Diagnosed on Real Time Three-dimensional Echocardiography:Compared with Surgical Results

Abstract:Objective To explore the real time three-dimensional diagnostic value of congenital quadricuspid aortic valve(QAV)deformity.Methods Congenital quadricuspid aortic valve deformity in 6 patients(3 male,3 female,mean age 55.8±9.05 years)was diagnosed using Philips Sonos 7500 and IE33 with a X4 probe.The morphologic changes,opening and closing of QAV and blood flowdynamics were observed on aortic root short axis view and aortic long axis view.Results In 6 patients with congenital QAV,3 patients were with one leaf smaller(50%),2 patients with 2 leaves smaller(33.3%),one patient with four leaves equal(16.7%).All patients were confirmed by surgical results.Conclusions The diagnosis of the disease is difficult in clinica1.but real time three-dimensional echocardiography can make a definite diagnosis and provide important strategies for appropriate treatment.
