Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between post-stroke depressive disorder and vascular risk factors. Methods One thousand and fifty-five stroke patients were enrolled from their first visit in specific stroke clinic and were divided into the depressive group and the non-depressive(control)group according to their clinical features. The data of their vascular risk factors were collected and compared between two groups. Results Two hundred and ninety-one patients(27.6%)with depressive disorder were identified.Hypertension, heart disease, hyperlipidemia, history of stroke, family history of hypertension and heart disease were more prevalent in the depressive group(P<0.05).There were no differences between two groups in current smoke, alcohol drink, diabetes,or family history of stroke.Depressed patients had more vascular risk factors than those without those factors(P<0.01).Multivariable Logistic regression showed hypertension(RR 1.615,95% CI 1.135~2.298,P=0.008),hyperlipidemia(RR 2.085,95%CI 1.490~2.918,P<0.01),history of stroke(RR 1.443,95% CI 1.034~2.014,P=0.031)and family history of heart disease(RR 1.844,95% CI 1.228~2.769,P=0.003)were independent predictors of depressive disorder post-stroke.Conclusion The prevalence of post-stroke depressive disorder is high among patients in specific stroke clinic.Mutiple vascular risk factors and the number were independent predictors of post stroke depressive disorder.
