Under the standard Lipschitz continuity assumptions on the coefficients, the value function is proved to be the unique viscosity solution of the associated stochastic HJ equation.

Abstract:We prove the existence of viscosity solutions to complex Hessian equations on a compact Hermitian manifold that satisfy a determinant domination condition. This viscosity solution is shown to be unique when the right hand is strictly monotone increasing in terms of the solution. When the right hand side does not depend on the solution, we reduces it to the strict monotonicity of the solvability constant.

Abstract:Using the convex integration technique for the three-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations introduced by Buckmaster and Vicol, it is shown the existence of non-unique weak solutions for the 3D Navier–Stokes equations with fractional hyperviscosity $$(-\Delta )^{\theta }$$, whenever the exponent $$\theta $$ is less than Lions’ exponent 5/4, i.e., when $$\theta < 5/4$$.

Abstract:Abstract This paper is concerned with the stationary Navier–Stokes equation in two-dimensional exterior domains with external forces and inhomogeneous boundary conditions, and shows the existence of weak solutions. This solution enjoys a new energy inequality, provided the total flux is bounded by an absolute constant. It is also shown that, under the symmetry condition, the weak solutions tend to 0 at infinity. This paper also provides two criteria for the uniqueness of weak solutions under the assumption on the existence of one small solution which vanishes at infinity. In these criteria the aforementioned energy inequality plays a crucial role.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the singular boundary value problem where is a parameter, and is the highly degenerate and h-homogeneous operator related to the infinity Laplacian. The nonlinear term is a continuous function and may exhibit singularity at . We establish the comparison principle by the double variables method for the general equation under some conditions on the term . Then, we establish the existence of viscosity solutions to the singular boundary value problem in a bounded domain based on Perron's method and the comparison principle. Finally, we obtain the existence result in the entire Euclidean space by the approximation procedure. In this procedure, we also establish the local Lipschitz continuity of the viscosity solution.

Abstract:We study the 3D hyperdissipative Navier-Stokes equations on the torus, where the viscosity exponent alpha can be larger than the Lions exponent 5/4. It is well-known that, due to Lions [1], for any L-2 divergence-free initial data, there exist unique smooth Leray-Hopf solutions when alpha >= 5/4. We prove that even in this high dissipative regime, the uniqueness would fail in the supercritical spaces (LtWxs,p)-W-gamma, in view of the Ladyzenskaja-Prodi-Serrin criteria. The non-uniqueness is proved in the strong sense and, in particular, yields the sharpness at two endpoints (3/p+1-2 alpha, infinity, p) and (2 alpha/gamma+1-2 alpha, gamma, infinity). Moreover, the constructed solutions are allowed to coincide with the unique Leray-Hopf solutions near the initial time and, more delicately, admit the partial regularity outside a fractal set of singular times with zero Hausdorff H-eta* measure, where eta(*) > 0 is any given small positive constant. These results also provide the sharp non-uniqueness in the supercritical Lebesgue and Besov spaces. Furthermore, we prove the strong vanishing viscosity result for the hyperdissipative Navier-Stokes equations. (c) 2024 Elsevier Masson SAS. Abstract:We prove the local existence and uniqueness of the strong solution to the 3-D full Navier-Stokes equations whose the viscosity coefficients and the thermal conductivity coefficient depend on the density and the temperature. The initial density may vanish in an open set and the domain could be bounded or unbounded. Finally, we show the blow-up of the smooth solution to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations in R-n ( n >= 1) when the initial density has compactly support and the initial total momentum is nonzero.

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain the asymptotic behavior at infinity for viscosity solutions of fully nonlinear elliptic equations in exterior domains. We show that if the solution $u$ grows linearly, there exists a linear polynomial $P$ such that $u-P$ is controlled by fundamental solutions of the Pucci's operators. In addition, with proper ellipticity constants, $u(x)-P(x)\to 0$ as $x\to \infty$ (see Theorem 1.11). If $u$ grows quadratically, we obtain similar asymptotic behavior (see Theorem 1.16). In this paper, we don't require any smoothness of the fully nonlinear operator.

Abstract:In this paper, we propose a Cauchy type problem to the timelike Lorentzian eikonal equation on a globally hyperbolic space-time. For this equation, as the value of the solution on a Cauchy surface is known, we prove the existence of viscosity solutions on the past set (future set) of the Cauchy surface. Furthermore, when the time orientation of viscosity solution is consistent, the uniqueness and stability of viscosity solutions are also obtained.

Abstract:It is well known that when the nonlinearity is convex, the Hamilton-Jacobi PDE admits a unique semi-convex weak solution, which is the viscosity solution. In this paper, motivated by problems arising from spin glasses, we show that if the Hamilton-Jacobi PDE with strictly convex nonlinearity and regular enough initial condition admits a semi-concave weak solution, then this solution is the viscosity solution.

Abstract:We study the first boundary value problem for the second-order fully nonlinear parabolic equation under natural structure conditions. The solution has a priori W infinity 1,0 bound. And moreover we prove the existence of viscosity solution by using the accretive operator. This is the extension of the method used in [1]. Our method has the advantage that the existence of solution does not depend on the existence of super- and subsolutions such as perron's method. Finally the uniqueness of viscosity solution is proved by using the method developed in [2] and [3].

Abstract:We consider the Cauchy problem for incompressible viscoelastic fluids in the whole space $\mathbb{R}^d$ ($d=2,3$). By introducing a new decomposition via Helmholtz's projections, we first provide an alternative proof on the existence of global smooth solutions near equilibrium. Then under additional assumptions that the initial data belong to $L^1$ and their Fourier modes do not degenerate at low frequencies, we obtain the optimal $L^2$ decay rates for the global smooth solutions and their spatial derivatives. At last, we establish the weak-strong uniqueness property in the class of finite energy weak solutions for the incompressible viscoelastic system.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is twofold. In the setting of metric measure spaces, we derive uniform gradient and Laplacian contraction estimates along solutions of the viscous approximation of the Hamilton–Jacobi equation. We use these estimates to prove that, as the viscosity tends to zero, solutions of this equation converge to the evolution driven by the Hopf–Lax formula, in accordance with the smooth case.

Abstract:In this paper, we study some properties of viscosity sub/super-solutions of a class of fully nonlinear elliptic equations relative to the eigenvalues of the complex Hessian. We show that every viscosity subsolution is approximated by a decreasing sequence of smooth subsolutions. When the equations satisfy some conditions on the limit at infinity, we verify that the comparison principle holds, and as a consequence, we obtain a result about the existence of solution of the Dirichlet problem. Using the comparison principle, we show that, under suitable conditions, a Perron-Bremermann envelope can be approximated by a decreasing sequence of viscosity solutions.
