NADPH oxidase family and vascular remodeling in hypertension

Abstract:The development and complications of essential hypertension(EH) are closely related to vascular remodeling.The types, characteristics and mechanisms of vascular remodeling in the process of hypertension development have attract extensive attention. The mechanism of vascular remodeling in EH is not fully understood. Recent studies suggest that reative oxygen species plays an important role in the development of vascular remodeling. NADPH oxidase is a major enzyme in generation of reactive oxygen species in vivo. Previous studies have shown that the NADPH oxidase-derived oxygen species plays an important role in the occurrence and development of vascular remodeling in hypertension. In this paper, we review the role and mechanism of NADPH oxidase in vascular remodeling in hypertension.
