Abstract:Oxone (3.5mol%) was found to be an effective catalyst for the condensation reactions of indoles with aldehydes to afford bis-indolylmethanes in good to excellent yields within 10–30min. The method is simple and economic. The catalyst is found to be recyclable.

Abstract:We describe an alkylation reaction of indoles with sodium alkoxides for the synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes. 1-Tetralone proved to be an efficient hydrogen acceptor, thus avoiding the use of precious transition metals such as Ru and Ir. This reaction features transition-metal-free conditions, uses readily available starting materials, and can be conducted on a gram scale.

Abstract:Herein, we report the first intramolecular C-N bond formation of phenylpropanamide derivatives via organocatalytic oxidative reactions, affording 3,3-disubstituted oxindole derivatives with up to 99% yield. The high efficiency of this reaction is exemplified by the transition metal-free mild conditions and the ability to perform the reaction on a gram scale. Meanwhile, the DFT calculation of the catalytic oxidative transformation pathway has also been studied.

Abstract:We report herein a highly efficient and mild approach for synthesizing pharmacologically active bis(indolyl)methanes, utilizing ZrO2 nanoparticles as a catalyst. The method involves a condensation reaction between indole and diverse aromatic aldehydes, carried out in acetonitrile under mild conditions. The ZrO2 nano-catalyst prepared via co-precipitation method, demonstrates exceptional efficacy, leading to favourable yields of the target bis(indolyl)methanes. The versatility of the methodology is highlighted through a substrate screening, showcasing its applicability to various aromatic aldehydes.

Abstract:A rhodium-catalyzed diastereoselective formal [5 + 2] annulation of indoles with cyclohexadienone-containing 1,6-enynes has been established via indole 2,3-difunctionalization. The reaction, probably proceeding through tandem indole C2-H alkenylation and intramolecular Friedel-Crafts alkylation relay, provides rapid construction of indole-fused oxepines in good to excellent yields with a broad substrate scope. This method also features concomitant construction of cis-hydrobenzo[b] oxepine scaffolds, a core unit found in numerous natural products of important biological activities.

Abstract:A scalable and practical synthesis of functionalized indoles via Pd- tBuONO cocatalyzed aerobic cycloisomerization of o-allylanilines is reported. Using molecular oxygen as a terminal oxidant, a series of substituted indoles were prepared in moderate to good yields. The avoidance of hazardous oxidants, heavy-metal cocatalysts, and high boiling point solvents such as DMF and DMSO enables this method to be applied in pharmaceutical synthesis. A practical gram-scale synthesis of indomethacin demonstrates its application potential.

Abstract:Mild conditions have been developed to achieve Pd-catalyzed homocoupling of indoles with excellent regioselectivity in the presence of Cu(OAc)(2) x H(2)O in DMSO at room temperature in high efficiency. This method provides a simple route to 2,3'-biindolyls from the electron-rich to moderately electron-poor indoles. The reaction tolerates the bromide substituent on indoles. In addition, a one-pot approach to C3-position acetoxylated biindolyls is realized via palladium catalysis by the use of AgOAc under oxygen atmosphere as oxidants.

Abstract:2-Alkynylanilines are attractive starting materials in indole synthesis because of their ready availability. Herein, a one-pot stepwise procedure is reported for efficient construction of multisubstituted oxocino[4,3,2-cd]indoles from 2-alkynylanilines and 2-alkynylbenzaldoximes. The method comprises the oxidative dearomatization of 2-alkynylanilines, the silver-catalyzed [3+3] cycloaddition with 2-alkynylbenzaldoximes, and subsequent thermal radical skeletal rearrangement and aromatization.

Abstract:A novel, selective and metal-free iminoxyl radical-promoted cascade oxyalkylation/alkylarylation of unactivated alkenes and activated alkenes via tandem O-C/C-C/C-C bond formation was developed. By using this protocol, isoxazoline-featured oxindoles were successfully synthesized by a one-pot reaction using beta,gamma-unsaturated ketoximes and N-arylacrylamides as readily accessible substrates and TBHP as the commercially available oxidant.

Abstract:Various indoles and carbazoles were synthesized from o‐alkenyl anilines and o‐aryl anilines by the β‐C(sp2)‐H bond amination cyclization without any oxidants or hydrogen acceptors. Likewise, employing o‐alkyl anilines as substrates, indole products are also obtained by the β‐C(sp3)‐H bond amination cyclization, and dehydrogenation. In this cross‐dehydrogenative coupling, many different functional groups are tolerated, and hydrogen gas is the only by‐product, thereby providing an intrinsically waste‐free approach for the synthesis of indoles and carbazoles.

Abstract:A facile strategy for the synthesis of valuable indolines has been developed, involving the palladium(II)/Brønsted acid co-catalyzed annulation of readily available (2-aminophenyl) methanols and sulfoxonium ylides. The protocol allows for the direct utilization of the OH group as a leaving group, tolerates alkyl and aryl groups on the N atom of the aniline moiety, operates under mild reaction conditions, and exhibits good efficiency.

Abstract:An efficient synthesis of diversified indolizine derivatives was developed via CuBr-catalyzed reaction of pyridines, methyl ketones and alkenoic acids under solvent free conditions in oxygen atmosphere. This synthesis involves cascade processes of copper-catalyzed bromination of the methyl ketone, 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of the pyridinium ylide with the alkenoic acid, followed by oxidative decarboxylation and dehydrogenative aromatization of the primary cycloadduct. By this protocol, a wide range of indoliznes with different substitution patterns were selectively prepared in one pot from simple substrates in good to excellent yields.
