Abstract:This article introduced "Design Research" and reviewed on its background, concept, concerns, developments and its academic significance. The undergoing changes of the structure and the paradigm of the knowledge producing require rethinking of the methodologies of research, which are dominated by scientific paradigm. Therefore, Design Research methodologies, which are relevant to design expertise and design thinking, were valued and developed. The developments of such trend deserve close attention from Chinese scholars and researchers in the field of landscape architecture.
