Abstract:The 3D geological modeling is the prerequisite and core foundation for Digital Mine. Although this new technology brings new opportunities and motivation for the mineral exploration industry, it still has many difficulties to be solved in this area. Based on the characteristics of mine data and the aim of Digital Mine construction, this paper introduces a theory including multi-source data coupling, multi-modeling methods integration, multi-resolution visualization and detection, and multidimensional data analysis and application. By analyzing problems such as the uncertainty in each step of the modeling process, we designed a novel modeling method that can be applied to the complex geological body modeling, mineral resource/reserve estimation, and the mining exploration engineering. Along with the process of mine exploration, development, and reclamation, 3D modeling undergoes the process of “construction-simulation-revision” during which the 3D model is able to be dynamically updated and gradually improved. Based on the result of practical utilization, it is proven that the methodology introduced by this paper can be used to build an effective 3D model by fully using the mining data under the control of spatial information quality evaluation. Our experiments show that such a 3D model can be used to evaluate the mine resource and provide the scientific evidence to improve mining efficiency during the various stages of evolvement process in mine.

Abstract:Three-dimensional geological modeling in mining areas and its corresponding spatial analysis have become a hotspot in mine geographic information system. In this paper, we build ARTPN (Analogical Right Triangular Prism Network) geological models based on the corresponding relations between plane graphs and sections in mining area, using geological hole and electronic peephole data. We also take Changcun coal mine as an example to achieve dynamic query of geostress and rock strength in 3D geological model, which provide reliable parameter for the original design of roadway supporting.

Abstract:In view of the complexity of mine geology, complex mountain structure, and strong concealment characteristics, the construction of 3D visual model of mining engineering is of great significance for mine mining design, production, and residual ore remining. Based on the comprehensive analysis of the development results of the existing 3D visualization software of ore body at home and abroad and the actual needs of domestic mines, this paper determines the key technologies and solutions to be studied. Focusing on the overall goal of real ore body visualization, relying on geology, mining, computer graphics CAD technology, and computer software engineering develops a set of 3D visual modeling general components for 3D simulation software developers to realize the 3D visual operation platform of ore body with independent intellectual property rights. By introducing the Shear-Warp volume computer rendering technology into the underground 3D visualization analysis process of mining engineering, a three-layer visualization platform structure based on hierarchical model is designed from the perspective of software engineering, which effectively strengthens the low coupling of data and high cohesion of function of the system. The example analysis results show that this method can accurately simulate the 3D structure and distribution of the actual ore body and make basic preparations for reserve estimation, mining design, mining development, and prospecting prediction. At the same time, the general component of 3D visual modeling provided by the system is ready for the interface of 3D simulation involved in mining software development.

Abstract:3D geological modeling makes a great contribution to the fields of geology, mine and underground construction, which contains the advantages of being visual, vivid and convenient. COMSOL Multiphysics has some ability of 3D geological modeling as a software of coupled simulation of multi-physics. This paper fully excavated the potential of COMSOL Multiphysics, and tried to establish a 3D geological model of one mine in Shanxi by the software with Kriging interpolation method, finally realized the operations such as scaling, rotation, translation of the geological model, generated the geological profile, section and perspective, showed the internal details of geological model. It’s proved that COMSOL Multiphysics can build 3D geological model, and 3D geological modeling has good value in the fields of geological interpretation, mineral assessment and multi-physics solving.

Abstract:According to the needs of 3D mine modeling,the model division of geological objects of mine is proposed by means of Object Oriented Technique.The system architecture of 3D mine modeling is portrayed based on the borehole data,the operation stream and data stream.By analyzing the techniques of data collection,quality control,data organization,data management and visualization,double index linked list to store data is put forward.At last,it verifies the possibility and rationality of this method on AutoCAD.

Abstract:In the era of big data, new information technologies introduced into the study of mining exploration to realize the wisdom prospecting has important significance. Based on 3S technology, 3D modeling and visualization technology, database technology and virtual reality technology, this paper studied the 3D integrated digital mine construction of big data era and presented a new concept of 3D visualization and data management integration modeling of digital mine. A case study of eastern Gejiu Sn-Cu deposit in Yunnan province of China achieved the integrated modeling of ground and underground, and also the multi-information integration and analysis of geology, geography, 2D and 3D. An integrated management platform was built in the application to integrate a variety of mine data organically, which provided support for mine production management, the deep prospecting practice and the comprehensive study and application of geological big data of mine.

Abstract:At present, the results of mine geological environment investigation are often expressed by 2D Maps, but 3D-Visualization technology will make these results more directly perceived through the senses. In the existing theories and technology conditions and aiming at the characteristics of mine geological environment, this paper solve the problem of unified visual of Terrain model, Surface features model, and underground model. Also, when builds the special features of geological environment models, it uses DEM grid data. This way makes its model more accurate image. At the end, this paper builds a 3D Xikuangshan geological environment modeling successfully by ArcScene software.

Abstract:With mining depth and state-wide expansion in open pit mining, it is necessary to bulid a three-dimensional visual model of open pit mining boundary, which can be used in the analysis of pit slope stability, engineering decisions, geological analysis and production planning. In this paper, a three-dimensionla visual model reflecting the complex formation load and terrain conditions was built by collecting original open pit design and geological data. With this model, stability analysis of open pit can be obtained and theoretical basis for selection of design can be provided. In the specific prcess of modelling, the original information in the existing CAD mining topographic maps were be used fully and the mine topographic maps was imported into Surpac mining software. Surface digital terrain model can be obtained elevation assignmented by corrction processing of CAD linears and vector processing of measring point data. On this basis, by using MIDAS software and considering the requirements of the scope of computational space, a three-dimensional model can be obtained through Boolean cut operations. With this model, the real surface shape of open pit mining boundary can be reflected.

Abstract:Due to the complexity of geometry and topology in three dimensional (3D) spaces, complete description of true 3D objects could not be displaced by traditional 2D GIS in geology, mine, etc. The paper adopts the method of wire frame to construct 3D mine model, based on generalizing several theory and technique problems and thinking about the irregularity of mine. The method is founded on triangular, so it could depict mine flexibly and could calculate the normal vector of triangular constructed to approach the mine survey, which helps to generate illumination model. With the application of OpenGL graphical library, we suggest using the visualization technology in order to produce 3D mine model for geosciences analysis to simply the disposal of 3D model and increase the speed of visual.

Abstract:In this paper, a professional mining GIS software called Geological and Surveying Spatial Management Information System (GSSMIS) was designed and implemented. Due to restriction of mine design and computerization level, geostatistics and 3D block model were not fully applied in metal mining. The geologists interpreted drill holes and delimit mineral boundaries on the 2D plane and section. Unlike other 3D mining software, a 2D & 3D integration technological architecture for unstratified mineral deposit was proposed considering the conventional exploration and exploitation approaches. The whole system contains 3 modules: geological and surveying database module, 21) MGIS module and 3D modeling and visualization module. Database module input, manage, store and extract all kinds of geological and surveying data. 2D MGIS module provide lots of toolbox for plotting all sorts of engineering maps and processing advance analysis such as geostatistical and uncertain analysis, reserve computation and mining economic estimation. GSSMIS has a typical COM GIS configuration with 5 different developing levels. The 5 level structure has advantage of less coding, easier maintenance and management, good ability of extension and secondary development, adding or subtracting the modules according to user's need. Also, 5 important system characters were introduced in the article, which were: 1) 2D auto-mapping; 2) interactive interpretation of geological boundaries; 3) mutual modifications of plane and section; 4) 3D solid modeling; 5) section profile cutting. Finally, the article presented the implement of GSSMIS in Laixin Iron, Shandong Province. The system changed traditional handcraft mapping mode thoroughly, relieved the heavy burden of engineers and promoted the process of computerization and informatization in China.

Abstract:As the fast development of the information technology (abbr. IT), it offers the chance for mine engineering to express the research objects by the new technology. But to look at it another way, it also presents a challenge for the mine engineer to improve the management capability nowadays. The nature geological features of mine, such as orebody, terrane, cracked belt caused by rupture, and laneway, goaf, etc., are one real three-dimensional (3D) dynamic geography and geologic environment. Therefore, the production and organization activity of mine are all in real 3D environment. As a result, it is essential that utilizing the computer-based digitization technology to model all kinds of geologic condition and paroxysmal accident we may encounter in the mining and digging course. Building 3D digital stratigraphic information management system, it is of far reaching importance for the design and construction during the process of mine building, for the dynamic management of numerous and jumbled engineering geology material during excavating production and administrative procedure, for improving the data visualization degree, for advancing work efficiency greatly, and for safety in production of mine. The concept of digital strata is proposed to solve such problems.Based on the aim above, that is to build the stratigraphic information system for mine, we design the system frame. From the rock-bottom data management to higher level of analyses and application, the frame is divided into four layers: data management layer, model layer, spatial analysis layer, and application layer.

Abstract:In order for to fully understand the operation in the pits in advance and reduce risk of serious accidents in coal mining industry such as explosion,fire and collapse,a realistic mining production environment is simulated for the safety education and training.Based on the analysis of the characteristics of the environment in the pits,combined with the 3ds Max modeling techniques and VC+ + calling the OpenGL graphics interface techniques,the models are bulit by using virtual reality technology and well optimized based on the progressive mesh LOD algorithm for edge collapse.A friendly man-machine interactive virtual system is realized by using high-tech computer technology.

Abstract:In the process of rapid economic development, the demand for mineral resources is increasing day by day. Mineral resources are important basic resources in China's social development, and play a very important role in promoting China's industrial production and economic development. At present, the traditional mining methods of mineral resources can't meet the current demand, so in order to alleviate the shortage of resources, it is necessary to explore and mine deep mineral resources. Based on this, this paper takes deposit geology, geographic information science and computer science as theoretical basis, comprehensively applies computational geometry method, computer graphics and image processing method, geological statistics method, etc. to study deep metal minerals based on geophysical exploration, and constructs a 3D metallogenic model. In this paper, based on the establishment of MSAccess database, the 3D spatial model of the deposit is established by using the borehole data based on ArcScene. With the analysis system developed based on ArcGISEngine, it carries out graphic management, data management, 3D display, 3D spatial analysis and geostatistical analysis. This provides a reliable reference for the future wide application of geophysical methods, and provides another idea and method reference for the establishment of 3D models.

Abstract:Based on the properties of mines, the demands of GIS applications in mines and the analysis of some feasible 3D data structures, it is pointed out that TIN, 3D raster, octree, 3D vector, TEN, object-oriented data structure can be suitable for different conditions, and hybrid or integrated data structure is the most efficient. Abstract:How to build the three dimensional model of the geologic body quickly and truly is a difficult problem which lies in the front of the numerical simulation operators. Although the three-dimensional (3D) geoscience simulation software has good 3D geological modelling ability, it can be difficult to join the corresponding geological model established by 3D study simulation software with numerical simulation software because of the difference in data structures. A majority of CAD software have good data connection with the present numerical analysis software. This paper presents a study on how to use CAD software to establish 3D geological model for 3D visualization and numerical simulation purposes. The 3D modeling of some highway slopes in Yunnan is used an examples to illustrate this approach is convenient, accurate and reasonable.

Abstract:Two-dimensional GIS are extensively applied to mineral potential mapping on a regional scale. However, these systems are unable to represent underground geological information in three spatial dimensions. The objective of this article is to overcome this defect and to develop a prototype system to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze underground mineral resources on the local scale, based on spatial data mining methods and three-dimensional GIS. The presented approach is based on 3D geological model established by the three-dimensional geological modeling software, such as Micromine, and is characterized by three-dimensional visualization, data management, and functionality for mineral resources prospectivity and quantitative assessment integrating weights-of-evidence model and case-based reasoning. The resulting system enables geologists to more accurately analyze the prospectivity and reserves of unknown mineral resource on the local scale.
