Does Large Country Effect Exist in the Import of China's Grain Trade: An Empirical Analysis Based on the Market Power of Soybeans Import

Abstract:To test whether large country effect exists in the import of China’s grain trade,this article tests the market power of soybeans import using the PTM model based on the conducts of importers.The results show that there is no market power in China’s import of soybeans,so the large country effect has not come up yet which is not suitable with the status of large soybeans import of China.Another conclusion is that both financial crisis and "soybeans storm"affect soybeans import a lot,but the soybeans storm seems affects more.Finally,this article gives out some reasons and suggestions on the lack of market power in soybeans import.
