Abstract:Presently, more and more Web-based technologies are adopted in e-Learning environment to provide users with relatively convenient and efficient access to the resources on the World Wide Web. Personalized support for learners is becoming even more important when the learning recourse volume is increasing with a dramatic speed. This paper represents the idea of using Web usage mining techniques to enhance the personalized capabilities of e-Learning environment. We describe the idea based on three-tier architecture as data collection and preprocessing, pattern discovery and pattern analysis. Brief algorithms in pattern discovery process are presented. We also show the system architecture of how to integrate the Web usage mining process into the e-Learning system.

Abstract:The single education model is one of critical problems in modern distance education.Firstly,the use of web mining in network education system is introduced and the process and key technologies of web mining are discussed.Then a personalized distance education service system model based on web mining is presented,and the structure and implementation of personalized engine are mainly described.Experiments show that it helps to improve personalized service quality of modern distance education system and offer intelligent auxiliary methods for decision analysis.

Abstract:Using the Web data mining technology to predict the user's future request and make recommendation is one aspect of personalized Web service. A clustering algorithm competitive agglomeration for relation data (CARD) is presented to analyze user access logs of Web server and an experimental model is constructed on the basis of analysis. CARD is based on CA that can adaptively process Web data. The tests are based on realistic Web logs. CARD has proved to be more applicable than CA in Web data mining and yielded superior results.

Abstract:With the rapid development of Internet, distance learning applications over Internet become more and more popular. This paper introduces a personalized learning system for web-based distance learning and focus on the web usage mining techniques aimed at personalized recommendation service. First, this paper presents a web page classification method, which uses attribute-oriented induction method according to related domain knowledge shown by a concept hierarchy tree. Second, the paper presents an algorithm of mining association rules with one-support using Freq- Set-Tree. Third, based on their current access patterns, page classes at the home site, page integration from other sites, and the rules discovered in mining, recommendation pages are made and presented for the students.

Abstract:Web-based learning enables more students to have access to the distance-learning environment, and provides students and teachers with unprecedented flexibility and convenience. However, the early experience of using this new learning means in China exposes a few problems. Among others, teachers accustomed to traditional teaching methods often find it difficult to put their courses online, and some students, especially the adult students, find themselves overloaded with too much information. In this paper, we present an open framework to solve these two problems. This framework allows students to interact with an automated question answering system to get their answers. It enables teachers to analyze students’ learning patterns and organize the web-based contents efficiently. The framework is intelligent due to the data mining and case-based reasoning features, and user-friendly because of its personalized services to both teachers and students.

Abstract:Based on the off-line mobile news service system already realized, the model for precise description and measurement of user profile was studied through adopting the technology of knowledge discovery from database. The news browsing manner of mobile users was analyzed, while news similarity was computed based on users' reading style, then the model for user profile was generated by the mining algorithm. The experiments showed that this model worked very well in describing user profile and promoted efficiency of personalized mobile service system.

Abstract:With the rapid informationization of education, extensive data records from online education of students are accumulated, and it provides a good opportunity for both data-driven educational assessment and intelligent tutoring. However, existing models are hard to accurately analyze the characteristics of questions and the academic levels of students from the massive and sparse data with high noise. Meanwhile, it is difficult for these models to satisfy the personalized needs of students and teachers. In this paper, educational data mining studies on these problems are summarized. To improve the student academic level, these studies focus on modeling three objects in education ( i. e. , questions, students and teachers) and apply effective techniques, such as personalized recommendation methods, combined with the domain knowledge from education. Specifically, a question text embedding framework is presented for question analysis and question retrieval. Then, personalized recommendation methods on learning resources are illustrated based on the cognitive diagnosis of students. Moreover, the way of providing effective guidance and suggestions for teachers is showed. Some of these research achievements are applied to the online educational system "ZHIXUE" in iFlyTek. Finally, the possible research directions in the future are discussed.

Abstract:Web user patterns can be used to create a more robust web information service in personalization. But the user interests are changeable, that is, they differ from one user to another, and they are constantly changing for a specific user. This paper presents a dynamic mining approach based on Markov model to solve this problem. Markov model is introduced to keep track of the changes of user interest according to his or her navigational behaviors. Some new concepts in the model are defined. An algorithm based on the model is then designed to learn the user's favorite navigation paths. The approach is implemented in an example website, and the experimental results proved the effective of our approach.
