Abstract:In this paper, we consider random dynamical systems (abbreviated as RDSs) generated by compositions of one-sided stationary random endomorphisms of class C^2 of a compact manifold. We will first introduce the notions of entropy and Lyapunov exponents for such RDSs, and then prove that the entropy formula of Pesin type holds if the sample measures of an invariant measure are absolutely continuous with respect to the Lebesgue measure on the manifold. Our result covers those obtained by Ledrappier and Young [11], and Liu [12] for i.i.d. random diffeomorphisms or (non-invertible) endomorphisms, and that obtained by [12] for two-sided stationary random endomorphisms. If the phase spaces are compact and finite-dimensional manifolds without boundary, this result may be considered as the almost-final form of Pesin entropy formula for RDSs with absolutely continuous invariant or sample measures.

Abstract:In this paper we extend the notion of a continuous bundle random dynamical system to the setting where the action of R or N is replaced by the action of an infinite countable discrete amenable group.Given such a system, and a monotone sub-additive invariant family of random continuous functions, we introduce the concept of local fiber topological pressure and establish an associated variational principle, relating it to measure-theoretic entropy. We also discuss some variants of this variational principle.We introduce both topological and measure-theoretic entropy tuples for continuous bundle random dynamical systems, and apply our variational principles to obtain a relationship between these of entropy tuples. Finally, we give applications of these results to general topological dynamical systems, recovering and extending many recent results in local entropy theory.

Abstract:Consider a random cocycle $\Phi$ on a separable infinite-dimensional Hilbert space preserving a probability measure $\mu$, which is supported on a random compact set $K$. We show that if $\Phi$ is $C^2$ (over $K$) and satisfies some mild integrable conditions of the differentials, then Pesin's entropy formula holds if $\mu$ has absolutely continuous conditional measures on the unstable manifolds. The converse is also true under an additional condition on $K$ when the system has no zero Lyapunov exponent.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce the concept of specific information gain ( or specific relative entropy) for random subshifts of finite type and random dynamical systems generated by small diffeomorphism-type perturbations of an Axiom-A basic set of a deterministic diffeomorphism. With this notion, we discuss in this special situation of random hyperbolic dynamical systems the measure-theoretic basis of the definition of the entropy production rate proposed by Ruelle for general random dynamical systems.

Abstract:We show that a totally dissipative system has all nonsingular systems as factors, but that this is no longer true when the factor maps are required to be finitary. In particular, if a nonsingular Bernoulli shift satisfies the Doeblin condition, and has a limiting marginal distribution p, then it cannot have, as a finitary factor, an independent and identically distributed (iid) system of entropy larger than H(p); on the other hand, we show that iid systems with entropy strictly lower than H(p) can be obtained as finitary factors of these Bernoulli shifts, extending Keane and Smorodinsky's finitary version of Sinai's factor theorem to the nonsingular setting. As a consequence of our results we also obtain that every transitive twice continuously differentiable Anosov diffeomorphism on a compact manifold, endowed with volume measure, has iid factors, and if the factor is required to be finitary, then the iid factor cannot have Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy greater than the measure-theoretic entropy of a Sinai-Ruelle-Bowen measure associated with the Anosov diffeomorphism.

Abstract:In this paper we will prove that any dynamical system posess the unique maximal factor of zero Rokhlin entropy, so-called Pinsker factor. It is proven also, that if the system is ergodic and this factor has no atoms then system is relatively weakly mixing extension of its Pinsker factor.

Abstract:We analyze a contrasting dynamical behavior of Gibbs-Shannon and conditional Kullback-Leibler entropies, induced by time-evolution of continuous probability distributions. The question of predominantly purpose-dependent entropy definition for non-equilibrium model systems is addressed. The conditional Kullback-Leibler entropy is often believed to properly capture physical features of an asymptotic approach towards equilibrium. We give arguments in favor of the usefulness of the standard Gibbs-type entropy and indicate that its dynamics gives an insight into physically relevant, but generally ignored in the literature, non-equilibrium phenomena. The role of physical units in the Gibbs-Shannon entropy definition is iscussed.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider random dynamical systems formed by concatenating maps acting on the unit interval in an independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) fashion. Considered as a stationary Markov process, the random dynamical system possesses a unique stationary measure . We consider a class of non-square-integrable observables , mostly of form , where is a non-recurrent point (in particular a non-periodic point) satisfying some other genericity conditions and, more generally, regularly varying observables with index . The two types of maps we concatenate are a class of piecewise expanding maps and a class of intermittent maps possessing an indifferent fixed point at the origin. Under conditions on the dynamics and , we establish Poisson limit laws, convergence of scaled Birkhoff sums to a stable limit law, and functional stable limit laws in both the annealed and quenched case. The scaling constants for the limit laws for almost every quenched realization are the same as those of the annealed case and determined by . This is in contrast to the scalings in quenched central limit theorems where the centering constants depend in a critical way upon the realization and are not the same for almost every realization.

Abstract:Entropy dimension is an entropy-type quantity which takes values in $[0,1]$ and classifies different levels of intermediate growth rate of complexity for dynamical systems. In this paper, we consider the complexity of skew products of irrational rotations with Bernoulli systems, which can be viewed as deterministic walks in random sceneries, and show that this class of models can have any given entropy dimension by choosing suitable rotations for the base system.

Abstract:We develop a new framework for establishing approximate factorization of entropy on arbitrary probability spaces, using a geometric notion known as non-negative sectional curvature. The resulting estimates are equivalent to entropy subadditivity and generalized Brascamp-Lieb inequalities, and provide a sharp modified log-Sobolev inequality for the Gibbs sampler of several particle systems in both continuous and discrete settings. The method allows us to obtain simple proofs of known results, as well as some new inequalities. We illustrate this through various applications, including discrete Gaussian free fields on arbitrary networks, the down-up walk on uniform $n$-sets, the uniform measure over permutations, and the uniform measure on the unit sphere in $\R^n$. Our method also yields a simple, coupling-based proof of the celebrated logarithmic Sobolev inequality for Langevin diffusions in a convex potential, which is one of the most emblematic applications of the Bakry-Émery criterion.
