Clinical Study of Lecithin-bound Iodine in the Treatment of Traumatic Macular Hemorrhage

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of lecithin-bound iodine in the treatment of traumatic macular hemorrhage. Methods 64 eyes of 64 cases suffering from traumatic macular hemorrhage were randomized divided into two groups, the observer group (n=32) and the control group (n=32). The observer group was administered carbazochrome 500mg three times per day for 20 days.The control group was administered lecithin-bound iodine 600μg three times per day for 20 days first, and then 300μg three times per day for 40 days.Changes of visual acuity, macular hemorrhage, macular edema and other complications were examined in the period of 60 follow-up days. Result The recover time of control group was shorter than that of observer group , the final visual acuity of control group was better than that of observer group, and the difference between two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Lecithin-bound iodine conduced to the absorption of macular hemorrhage and edema and the improvement of visual acuity. It is efficacious in the treatment of traumatic macular hemorrhage.
