Abstract:This paper is concerned with the coexistence of steady states for a kind of reaction-diffusion model with Holling-Tanner term under the third boundary conditions. By means of maximum principles and Hopf boundary lemma, the prior estimates of the strict positive solutions are given at first. Then by using the topological fixed point theorems and extending Leray-Schauder degree on Banch spaces to positive cones, the existence of positive solutions of the system are considered. At last, by calculating the indices of fixed points of compact operators in cones and combining with spectrum analysis of operators, maximum principles and lower-upper solutions methods, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the positive solutions of the steady system are obtained.
Asymptotic Behavior of the Numerical Solutions of Time-Delayed Reaction Diffusion Equations with Non-Monotone Reaction Term

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the asymptotic behavior of the finite difference solutions of a class of nonlinear reaction diffusion equations with time delay. By introducing a pair of coupled upper and lower solutions, an existence result of the solution is given and an attractor of the solution is obtained without monotonicity assumptions on the nonlinear reaction function. This attractor is a sector between two coupled quasi-solutions of the corresponding "steady-state" problem, which are obtained from a monotone iteration process. A sufficient condition, ensuring that two coupled quasi-solutions coincide, is given. Also given is the application to a nonlinear reaction diffusion problem with time delay for three different types of reaction functions, including some numerical results which validate the theoretical analysis.

Abstract:This paper deals with nonnegative solutions of a fully parabolic two-species chemotaxis system with competitive kinetics under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions in a N-dimensional bounded smooth domain with reasonably smooth nonnegative initial data. In a previous paper of Bai & Winkler (2016), the equilibrium of the global bounded classical solution was shown in both coexistence and extinction cases. We extend this result to weak solutions and prove these solutions globally exist and finally converge to the same semi-trivial steady state in a certain sense.

Abstract:A singularly perturbed boundary value problem for a piecewise-smooth non-linear stationary equation of react ion-diffusion-advection type is studied.A new class of problems in the case when the discontinuous curve which separates the domain is monotone with respect to the time variable is considered.The existence of a smooth solution with an internal layer appearing in the neighborhood of some point on the discontinuous curve is studied.An efficient algorithm for constructing the point itself and an asymptotic rep-resentation of arbitrary-order accuracy to the solution is proposed.For sufficiently small parameter values,the existence theorem is proved by the technique of matching asymptotic expansions.An example is given to show the effectiveness of their method.
Asymptotic Behavior Of Solutions For Systems Of Periodic Reaction-Diffusion Equations In Unbounded Domains

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study the asymptotic behavior of the time-dependent solutions to a coupled system of reaction-diffusion equations with periodic coefficients in unbounded domains, including the whole space R-n, the exterior Omega(e) of a bounded domain and the half-space R-+(n) = {x = (x(1), . . . , x(n)) is an element of R-n; x(n) > 0}, under Dirichlet boundary conditions. It is shown that if the reaction function in the system possesses a mixed quasi monotone property and the corresponding periodic system has a pair of coupled upper and lower solutions then the periodic system has a pair of quasi-solutions and the sector between the quasi-solutions is an attractor of the system of periodic reaction-diffusion equations. Under some additional conditions this attractor leads to the asymptotic stability of a periodic solution for the periodic system. The approach to the problem is based on the method of upper and lower solutions, a ladder argument and a bootstrap technique. Finally, a competitor-competitor-mutualist model is given to illustrate the obtained results.

Abstract:This paper deals with a periodic reaction–diffusion system of plankton allelopathy under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. Based on the result of Ahmad and Lazer, we show some estimates and nonexistence results for the positive solutions of the system. Furthermore, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of the system, that is one species dies out and the other exists as time t tends to infinity.

Abstract:We study a nonlinear diffusion equation of the form u_t=u_xx+f(u) (x∈ [g(t),h(t)]) with free boundary conditions g'(t)=-u_x(t,g(t))+α and h'(t)=-u_x(t,h(t))-α for some α >0 . Such problems may be used to describe the spreading of a biological or chemical species, with the free boundaries representing the expanding fronts. When α =0 , the problem was recently investigated by Du and Lin (SIAM J Math Anal 42:377–405, 2010 ) and Du and Lou (J Euro Math Soc arXiv:1301.5373 ). In this paper we consider the case α >0 . In this case shrinking (i.e. h(t)-g(t)→ 0 ) may happen, which is quite different from the case α =0 . Moreover, we show that, under certain conditions on f , shrinking is equivalent to vanishing (i.e. u→ 0 ), both of them happen as t tends to some finite time. On the other hand, every bounded and positive time-global solution converges to a nonzero stationary solution as t→∞ . As applications, we consider monostable, bistable and combustion types of nonlinearities, and obtain a complete description on the asymptotic behavior of the solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we construct a partially degenerate reaction-diffusion equation subject to the Neumann boundary condition and show that the zero solution is asymptotically stable but not exponentially asymptotically stable. In this way, we solve an open problem proposed by Casten and Holland (1977) [4] Moreover, we give the exponential asymptotic stability of the zero solution to a totally degenerate system with cross-diffusion effects, which cannot be determined by a simple spectral analysis based on the well developed semigroup theory. Abstract:In this work, we investigate a reaction-diffusion system in which both species are influenced by self-diffusion. Due to Hopf's boundary lemma, we obtain the boundedness of the classical solution of the system. By considering a particular function, we provide a complete characterization of the parameter ranges such that coexisting solutions of the system do not exist under three boundary conditions. Then based on the maximum principle, a sufficient condition for the existence of constant coexisting solutions of the system under Neumann boundary conditions was derived.

Abstract:The critical exponents are established for a nonlinear diffusion system with convection, which are described clearly by the signs of two parameters solving the so-called characteristic algebraic system. It is proved that the convection plays an important role in determining the critical properties of solutions in the balance case. This greatly improves the authors’ previous paper for the same model.

Abstract:In this paper, we concentrate on the propagation dynamics of stochastic reaction–diffusion equations, including the existence of travelling wave solution and asymptotic wave speed. Based on the stochastic Feynman–Kac formula and comparison principle, the boundedness of the solution of stochastic reaction–diffusion equations can be obtained so that we can construct a sup-solution and a sub-solution to estimate the upper bound and the lower bound of wave speed.

Abstract:A class of reaction diffusion system with jump layer is considered. Firstly, the outer solution is solved. Secondly, introducing a stretched variable, the corrective terms of jump layer is constructed. Finally, using the theory of differential inequality, the uniformly valid asymptotic expansions of solution for the original problem are obtained. Then the asymptotic behavior of solution for the corresponding problem is studied.

Abstract:We analyze the long time behavior of initial value problems that model a process where particles of type A and B diffuse in some substratum and react according to $nA+nB\to C$. The case n=1 has been studied before; it presents nontrivial behavior on the reactive scale only. In this paper we discuss in detail the cases $n>3$, and prove that they show nontrivial behavior on the reactive and the diffusive length scale.

Abstract:This paper is to investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions for a time-delayed Lotka-Volterra N-species mutualism reaction-diffusion system with homogeneous Neumann boundary condition. It is shown, under a simple condition on the reaction rates, that the system has a unique bounded time-dependent solution and a unique constant positive steady-state solution, and for any nontrivial nonnegative initial function the corresponding time-dependent solution converges to the constant positive steady-state solution as time tends to infinity. This convergence result implies that the trivial steady-state solution and all forms of semitrivial steady-state solutions are unstable, and moreover, the system has no nonconstant positive steady-state solution. A condition ensuring the convergence of the time-dependent solution to one of nonnegative semitrivial steady-state solutions is also given.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions for a class of three-species predator–prey reaction–diffusion systems with time delays under homogeneous Neumann boundary condition. Some simple and easily verifiable conditions are given to the rate constants of the reaction functions to ensure the convergence of the time-dependent solution to a constant steady-state solution. The conditions for the convergence are independent of diffusion coefficients and time delays, and the conclusions are directly applicable to the corresponding parabolic-ordinary differential system and to the corresponding system without time delays.

Abstract:We construct solutions of nonlinear reaction-diffusion equations with nonlinear boundary conditions in spaces where the problem is supercritical and show the nonlinear balance required between the nonlinear terms in order to obtain a dissipative system. Assuming this balance, the dynamics of the solutions is the same that take place in subcritical spaces.
